After seeing Theophilus London and opener Phony PPL perform on February 6th at the 9:30 Club I was just too overwhelmed by the high-energy fantasticness of the show to craft a coherent paragraph-style review. So here goes: my first (perhaps the world's first?) experiment with Concert Review Jeopardy. Alex Trebek, eat your heart out. Category: Apparel Seen on Stage at the show Correct Response: What are a vintage Stockholm Olympics sweater, a leopard-print bath robe, a "F*ck the Police" T-shirt, a gold-embroidered-elephant vest, argyle socks, and a New York Giants baseball cap? Theophilus London will be in Philly tonight at Johnny Brenda's . Not sure if the show is sold out, so if you're looking for some yupped-up hip hop, get a ticket now. Theophilus will no doubt play some of his classic mixtape material, but I am sure most of the set will consist of tracks off his major label debut Timez Are Weird These Days . Check out an interview with Theophilus from Billboard Magazine, as well as a performance of the album opener "Last Name London".

Recorded version to appear on the Brooklyn emcee's forthcoming LP.
In the last year or so, Theophilus London has been around the world, up on billboards, blasting out of the TV, and damn near everywhere else. The Warner Bros. artist is somewhat of an anomaly in the music world, creating a name for himself through corporate sponsorships and partnerships without crossing into mainstream record sales or heavy radio play, but mostly driven by unique style. Regardless of record sales, London is creating a successful business lane and continuing to broaden a sound that already crosses numerous pop music eras. We caught up with Theophilus before the Seattle show of his [...]
Gigamesh, otherwise known as Matt Masurka, is the DJ and producer that has put the Twin Cities on the map with his eclectic remixes and electro Pop. This Hype Machine star is both a low key and mainstream kind of guy. He started DJing as a hobby back in high school, but soon gave it up once he graduated. He sold his equipment to his older brother who later became known as DiscoTech. While studying music in college he dabbled in a few groups and mostly stayed away from Dance music. Later on, Masurka got drawn back into [...]
I've watched this 100 times but I'm putting it here for safe keeping anyway. And even though " Big Spender " is already an original by Theophilus London, I'm crossing my fingers that Rocky and the ASAP mob take it and make their own bootleg because, well, Theo isn't really doing this track justice.

We've been fans of Theophilus London for a while, and today we'll highlight some of our favorite things that we've said about him. London brings some of his Brooklyn swagger to 9:30 Club on Monday (2/6), and we have a pair of tickets for you to win. Quoting myself last fall: London just released his debut full-length album Timez Are Weird These Days this past July after a string of successful mixtapes and the Lovers Holiday EP last winter. [...]

Machinedrum has swallowed the early chunk of 2012, collaborating on new works with Azealia Banks and Om Unit , remixing Bonobo and Gang Colours , and releasing his own SXLND EP on LuckyMe earlier this month. I don't know how he's going to keep up at this pace all year, but hearing this Letherette remix of a [...]

When we met up with Theophilus London in the back room of Chicago's Lincoln Hall, he was sitting on a couch. He had a sold out show in less than two hours, but he was leaning back, looking supremely relaxed. The man was resplendent: he had so many chains on that he made the undecorated average citizen look like a peasant, and the newly-purchased gold grills only exaggerated the difference. He had taken the top row out for the interview, because he was still getting used to speaking with all that gold in his mouth. The entourage was [...]

Follow Me have remixed Theophilus London's 'All Around The World', making it almost unrecognisable but equally as enjoyable. The jangling guitars of the original are long gone and replaced by bubbling bass grooves. If the original version was fun and full of summer vibes, this is perfect for today's dark, wintry state. If you do like the track, you can show your support by voting in the Theophilus London remix competition .

More oddness from Inner Worlds. This time going for that well-known genre of rapambientsynthpop. Inner Worlds remix Theophilus London (is he real or a bit Ali G?) for a remix comp. This has a typically tedious rap but offset by being accompanied by 70s retro synth, with all the settings turned to valium. Listen only. And, as a Brucie bonus, from the same Def Sec stable, here's Inner Worlds' version. This gives the rap a quiet beating until only the robots remain and marries it to chip ambient backing set free into the vastness of [...]

THE PACK A.D., MY GOODNESS ( Doug Fir , 830 E Burnside) There's that self-destructive point in a breakup where, when you're not getting shit-faced and crying, you're punching holes in the wall. That's something Elisabeth KÜbler-Ross overlooked that when describing the Five Stages of Grief, possibly because she had never heard the Pack A.D. On their fourth album, Unpersons , the Vancouver, BC, garage-punk duo ride the line at the nexus of pissed-off and dissipation with a ferocious energy. With only a drum kit, a guitar, and the voice of Becky Black, The Pack A.D. creates [...]
