NME were so right when they huffed and puffed when These New Puritans' seminal Hidden was left bereft of Mercury Music Prize nomination last year. All those that featured said record in their end of year lists were so right to have done so. Evidently New York's most famed scruffs The Strokes concurred, as You're So Right, barring a brief guitar solo evocative of Josh Homme's twiddling fretboard fingery is oh so reminiscent of the industrial menace of the Southend miserablists. A radical departure, but a few minutes that prove to be far more intriguing than Under Cover [...]

Sometime last year in-between stints of Gucci Mane 's jail-time, Diplo co-opted a bunch of friends to release a remix LP of their favourite Gucci tracks. The results were aptly-named Free Gucci and half the tracks were forgettable. As for the other half? Pretty solid, especially that Emynd remix. Earlier this month Mad Decent released a second volume of icy remixes, Free Gucci 2: The Burrrtish Edition . This time around, some fine British talent injected dupstep flavours behind Mr. Radric Davis' raps. [...]

As this year's Bloc Weekend draws forever closer and the anticipation builds, we've been busying ourselves by dissecting perhaps the greatest and most eclectic line up Butlins can cope with over a seemingly inconspicuous March weekend. Kicking off on 11th March and concluding in a presumably delightfully disorderly fashion on the 13th, we've been divulging our tips for the top of the house hierarchy of all things electronic, previously featuring Francophonic disco overlord Bernard Fèvre and superlative Berliner Siriusmo . This week is the turn of illusive producer SBTRKT , or former nu-jazz knob [...]

After the success of the first mixtape, the Mad Decent crew decided to go for a Part 2 and Sinden took up the task! This time a British -oh! excuse me! Burrrtish - Edition , which means that just British artists were called to make remixes of Gucci's songs. Among them Duke Dumont , Wiley and These New Puritans . Now you might ask and wtf is Gucci? Gucci Mane is an American rapper, who apart from committing a series of crimes and even been accused of [...]

SoundLogik will be attending Coachella Music Festival this upcoming April and we're extremely stoked, to say the least. Since a one post preview of the entire weekend and all of our favorite artists would be far too lengthy, we decided to start our "Coachella Daze" series which will feature Coachella artists/songs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday on their respective show day leading up to the event. Fellow Logikians, it's time to get dazed. SBTRKT is [...]

Editor's Note: The 2010 music scene was actually one of my favorites in a long time. While some saw a slow year with nothing eventful happening, I saw a hip-hop artist reveal himself as a human (K. West), an Icelandic superstar create something magical on his own (Jonsi), and a band that reached the highest of expectations (Arcade Fire), plus a plethora of Bay Area bands that expanded the scene's already blooming hype machine (Weekend, Judgement Day, Grand Lake, Morning Benders, Sean Hayes, Sonny & The Sunsets, Il Gato, Sleepy Sun, The Limousines, etc). [...]

The best albums of 2010, much the same as 2009 , were ridiculously hard to narrow down into a final 30. But after much of the obligatory mulling over nominees and usual bits of chopping and changing positions i've finally got a Top 30 Countdown. It was a pretty spectacular twelve months in terms of music. Full of all sorts of aural delights. As customary the countdown is from Numero 30 to Numero 1 and with a short little description of each album. I've tried to keep it to [...]

2010 was quite a year. It saw graduations, festivals, a move from Athens to Barcelona, the discovery of a new city, a slight, um, slowing down of our blog activity, a World Cup, many flights (17 for me), and a lot of great music. So, without further ado, we present to you: So, how did we compile this rather fantastic list, you ask? Easy, we consulted our trusty last.fm profiles (see the bottom of this page for our individual profiles). We then each chose our top 25 and [...]

Photo by Tobias Hibbs This is still kinda blowing me away, but let me first off dispel any thoughts you might be having of yodeling from the Swiss alps or lists of some of my favourite things . I was just heading to bed (it's 3:29am on a Monday morning) and I checked out the last couple of emails I had unread and there sat an email about this band Edelweiss. Without reading anything about the band I just clicked on the Bandcamp page and started listening. What I heard was like a cross between [...]

In no particular order. Well, somewhat particular at least. Fever Ray made things easy in 2009 , this year was more of a struggle. There was a lot of good records, but none that I really felt were leaps and bounds ahead of the others. Still, there were some that stood out. Joanna Newsom, for one, with her triple (!) LP (and without a track to spare) or Caribou's Arthur Russell influenced LP. Two excellent minimal synth compilations were also on heavy rotation this year... And the list goes on. Here are some records we listened to [...]
Glass Animals are a band from Oxford, England, like most of the electronic music coming out of the UK the band can be lumped in with the dubstep genre. They make sparse, drum machine propelled tracks each buried in a depth of samples and other instruments. For their new...

This year to cope with the abundance of great music that came out in 2010, we've expanded the list to 25 Addict Music's Top 25 Albums of 2010 is a post from: Music News, Album Reviews, Live Reviews, New Music

To me, the Rapture sound is so 2008. Makes sense then to twist it into a worthier shape with the help of These New Puritans. DID is an Italian band doing that Strokes / the Rapture thing, I don't know, but it does nothing to me. These New Puritans got into the picture with a remix of one of their tracks Another Pusher and surprise, surprise, it sounds better than the original. Or maybe that's just me. Apparently TNP helped produced the album too? Sorry folks, I'm just seriously not [...]
