Tausend mal leichter als das studentische Lernen und das intensive Sport treiben in der Ivy League und als die schweren Bücherregale der Promofotos suggerieren kommt das Debütalbum der "This is the Ivy League" rüber. Klingt extrem nach Sommer, Beach Boys, Belle and Sebastian und einer Spur Smiths'scher Lebensleidenschaft. Richtig toller, gefühlvoll arrangierter "Fop" (=Folk Pop). Passt irgendwie nicht zu der schweren, düsteren Bibliothek in dem sich das Duo aus Brooklyn promotionstechnisch vollkommen entspannt und natürlich rumreckelt. This Is Ivy League is a new-ish two man band, out of New York. This Is Ivy League can be described as versatile. They play many instruments including drums, bass, guitar, synth, and trumpet. For a two man band, that is pretty impressive. But what seems to be my favorite part of this catchy pop act, is their use of harmonies. Here's a young acoustic folk duo with an endearing story to match. The two were high school friends in Florida, but fell out of touch following graduation. One became a cook, the other an actor.
