Here is the official video for '(I Should Be A) Communist' from one of the high rising bands I have on my radar, This Many Boyfriends. It doesn't quite have the same ring as 'Young Lovers Go Pop!' but it still offers a good listen. Look for the release from This Many Boyfriends on May 21st.
Leeds based This Many Boyfriends are releasing a new Ryan Jarman (The Cribs) produced single of their song "(I Should Be A) Communist". The tune has a catchy melody and carefree swing reminiscent of The Smiths but with a grungier lo-fi dynamic that plays to the new generation of indie rock disenfranchised. Plus "Commie" comes in towe with a pretty sweet video that stars a costumed bear attacking the band as they pretend to rock out in the park. "(I Should Be A) Communist" is expected to be release on May 21st through Angular Recording Corporation. Get it. [...]

Recently, I've been reminiscing hard about the heady mid-902s days of Britpop's pomp. This is partly the result of one too many wine-fuelled rock reminiscence evening with Dev Sherlock , and partly because, for some reason, when the sun emerges in springtime, those heady awkward teenage feelings flood back. With hindsight, one of Britpop's few redeeming features was the weird collective willingness of the UK's populace to embrace fey Indie jangle-pop as the de facto pop music. The inevitable Britpop crash killed off these waif-like bands, who, having finally summoned up the [...]

Baltimore-based Dead Mellotron recently unleashed its superlative new number "Stranger" on the Internets. Fronted by Josh Frazier, who is abetted by mysterious backers CC, Aimee and Faith, the group's contemporary take on good 'ole chugging shoegaze rock accomplishes a lot with a relatively straightforward approach. The first 30 seconds of the cinematic "Stranger" -- which will feature on Dead Mellotron 's forthcoming third album Glitter -- relies on a facile electronic drum pattern that clatters behind a gorgeous curtain of reverb and auto-tune effects. A simple distorted guitar emerges and applies a steady rhythm that [...]
![Listen: This Many Boyfriends - Starling [New Single]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4106431_lg.jpg)
Words: Emily Solan This Many Boyfriends are probably the best band you'll ever listen to. Their brand of indie pop makes no excuses for itself, the delightful jingle jangle of guitars in their new single 'Starling' errs just on the right side of being twee. Listen to the track below, along with b-side 'Just Saying'. Throw in catchy singalong lyrics and 'Starling' is a criminally brilliant masterpiece that will sit in your head for [...]
Striking, twisting guitar licks and rat-a-tat percussion combos threatens to morph, 'Starling' into a sickly "woe is me", pop-punk throwaway of a track. That said, these Richard Boyfriend led northern upstarts soon turn the tables, using a laid back, yet worldly sounding vocal nudge to turn it into a mod spliced indie rouser. It's helped along by wry, yet reflective lyrics, uncovering the woes of image conscious lovers: "We both cut our hair short, to fit on your t-shirt." Alan Donohoe rehearsing for the lead in Oliver best depicts the vocal element of the laboured jangle-pop [...]

Geluid: This Many Boyfriends - I Should Be A Communist // Geloof ons: we hebben geprobeerd Morrissey niet te vermelden in deze beschrijving. Tevergeefs.

There is always that forever-old adage about not judging a book by its' cover. However, if one was to judge English band This Many Boyfriends strictly from the contents of their Facebook page it would almost be impossible not to like them. Anyone whose influences includes both of the albums Psychocandy ( The Jesus and Mary Chain ) and Born to Run ( The Boss ) deserves a listen if not just for that description alone. Lucikly, the band itself does justice to its description. Sort of like a hybrid of The Strokes and Pavement [...]

Who's up for some jangly indie-pop? Such a thing is great in moderation, but can quickly become stale. However, the new single from This Many Boyfriends is the kind of song I can't see myself getting sick of... well, ever. It's getting released on Monday, and is out in a rather intriguing physical format, as well: Starling is being released as a fanzine, of all things! Ha, take that, all you bands who simply put out CDs for your singles. Most people buy downloads these days anyway, unless some effort is really put in with the physical release [...]

It seems like quite a long time since 'Young Lovers Go Pop!', so I am genuinely excited by the news of the release of 'Starling' by This Many Boyfriends. If you like this sort of thing, then why not go and catch TMB live when they're next in your town? Their current tour is detailed below, but beware, all the Cribs dates are sold out! 23 February 2012 - Manchester - with Allo Darlin', The Deaf Institute 24 February 2012 - Sheffield - with Allo Darlin', Queens Social Club 25 February 2012 - London Popfest [...]

" We will live together for a long time " Sweet catchy pop tune from Leeds act This Many Boyfriends , it is also the collectives latest single. A single that will see daylight on February 20th as a fanzine which means music .... and a ton of other goodies. For now dance your face off to this cracking tune below, your day just got a little brighter.

I could've made this list twice as long but I capped it at 50. Most of these are actual singles. The rest should be. Beyond the top ten, ordering is fairly arbitrary. Metronomy - The Look ( MP3 | Video ) I first heard this song back in February and I have yet to tire of it. I wish the keyboard solo outro lasted forever. Exlovers - Blowing Kisses ( MP3 | Video ) Rocking shoegaze pop of the highest order. [...]

The Schönbys are fictional, made-up awards for me to let you know what I've enjoyed listening to during 2011. Winners and nominations are drawn from music I have seen, heard or bought during the preceding 12 months. The next award is for best new artist, but what is a 'new artist'? I can't profess to ever being there at the beginning of any band, so my definition of 'new' is a band, possibly unsigned but not essential, who have released their first official recording in 2011. As I said before, crystal ball gazing is not one of my [...]
More grim news, I'm afraid, with a statement from This Many Boyfriends announcing the death of guitarist Peter Sykes : Our best friend and guitarist Peter Sykes sadly passed away on Tuesday morning. We are all extremely shocked and saddened at the loss of a truly wonderful human being. We really can't process everything right now as it has been a tremendous shock. We were so very lucky to have even met such a great man and to have shared a stage with him has been a huge pleasure. He was our dear friend [...]

Words: Saam Das It's September. Already. Another month goes by and another singles column is complete. As ever, ten of the best singles of the month and no dating advice to be seen anywhere. Or at least not here. Because that would be terrible. Anyway, the photo above hints at the winner of the August single of the month. To listen to that track and more, keep reading. Noah And The Whale - 'Life Is [...]
