This show was pretty much an example of a band just having a good time. Saying this, they put their all into it as well, playing up to the audience who knew every word, and who were clearly a dedicated following, gathered for the seeing off of singer Stu, leaving for family beginnings. Oxford, England quartet This Town Needs Guns release a new 2-song 7" today via Sargent House. It is the band's last recording with singer Stuart Smith, who leaves the band on amicable terms having successfully auditioned for fatherhood. The rest of the group is currently at work with new vocalist/guitarist Henry Tremain on the followup to their 2009 album, Animals . If you're an Oxfordshire native, or if you just can't handle the massive crowds at the larger festivals, then from July 23rd to 25th, I'd recommend heading down to Hill Farm, Steventon, for the 13th Annual Truck Festival . Drawing around 5,000 punters each year, the festival gets its name from the flat-bed trailer they use as the main stage, and has a total of six stages, offering everything from Americana to post-rock to electronica. Having seen Dinosaur Jr this past Winter, I have been on a serious '90s indie/post-hardcore. The band's influence can surely be heard on The Echo & The Light , the newest eight-song LP from Chicago's Castevet . UK band This Town Needs Guns have been impressing critics and fans overseas with the release of their debut album, Animals , which has been out in the UK since October, but is only just now being made available in the States.
