20 million people are affected by the recent floods in Pakistan and it is said that it will take three years for the country to fully recover. At least six million people have been left homeless. The UNHCR is appealing for $120 million in donations over the next four months to provide shelter and assistance to Pakistan's flood victims. There is currently a shortage of cash for aid agencies in the region. Music site Fractions Of One have teamed with 13 bands from the UK and Ireland to release Get Set Go , [...]

Thom Stone is mysterious man: His official website and myspace are (deliberately?) vague the press release that accompanied his latest release does not delve too deep into his past there is little information on last.fm and the likes... All [...]
"I wish you'd try to make up your mind. " Regardless of where he comes from or where he's been since - whether it's London, Manchester, or anywhere in between - young songwriter Thom Stone seems pretty unaffected by the run-around of big city life. In fact, if music is indeed an accurate reflection of one's surroundings, Thom steers well clear of the expected hustle and bustle. After spending some time experimenting with a backing band, it appears [...]
Photo by Boris Karn!! Okay, So, I didn't think I would be looking forward to summer at all since I haven't experienced winte r in over a year and a half, but spring here is fricken cold enough! And now that summer is approaching it is time for a summer playlist. Now, most of these songs are songs I have listened to [...]
Thom Stone has been a staple summer artist for me. He has this incredible energy in all his songs and his voice is one of the most amazing/unique voices in music. I just bought his new EP "Harmony On a Jet Plane" which i already know will be played an extensive amount. A couple years [...]

Lacking time or ability to really focus on mixtapiness this week, I've asked a good friend, fellow music aficionado and blogger to take the reins this week. She's come through in stunning fashion. Thanks to Mel from New Leaves In March for keeping the Friday Mixtape tradition here going. At the end of each year, I put together a mix cd that acts as a sort of musical yearbook for me. I try to capture new artists I discovered as well as the songs that really stood out on the ipod during the [...]

If the gritty b&w promo shot wasn't reason enough, here's several more perfectly good reasons to like Thom Stone: 1) Has the same first name as Thom Yorke 2) Has badass british accent 3) Has more myspace friends than me 4) He's sort of like a young british Ryan Adams, except without the craziness 5) He's rocking a serious hair surplus Check this guy out. I was unable to download his best tune, She Knows , so you'll have to hit up his [...]

"She knows which way the wind blows..." I had first heard the music of Thom Stone months ago back in the states. He was ever so kind enough to send me some demos, but I held off on posting them simply because they were just too rough - not because I didn't completely dig them. I've finally gotten around to seeing him play over here in London, and was given his newly released single, Big House, in the process. His new EP, [...]
