Over the weekend, Ryan Adams said we should check out Thomas J. Speight 's "Willow Tree," a gorgeous song off his new Tim Rice Oxley and Jesse Quin-produced EP, and I've had it on repeat (alongside Cee-Lo, of course ) ever since. Speight's vocals here, adorned with just the right touch of reverb and bolstered by a slightly syncopated drumbeat that recalls Wilco's Glenn Kotche, are among the few I've heard that could be safely called Ryan Adams-esque, in fact. Add pitch-perfect harmonies from Jessica Staveley-Taylor , a string section-backed coda, and its twee music [...]

Damn, I tried to blog this week, but as you can see, I failed. Big fail. There's a lot on my plate lately. But hopefully, by the time this auto-posts at 5:30pm, I'll be very relaxed, and in a situation similar to this week's cover art. Yep, new car. This is what happens when you have a music blog - people find you and often it is so-so, sometimes it is horrible, and now and again you find something that you really like. I found that with Thomas J Speight from London (UK that is). The sound is easy, folk inspired and gets it's Slowcoustic on. TJS (and crew) have been around for almost a year since the "creation" of Thomas J Speight (although I am sure [...]
