NJ's alt rockers Those Mockingbirds released their album " Fa Sol La " just this past January, but that didn't slow down their creative process. The band is already releasing a new single, "The Difference Between Love and Addiction," (streaming below) in anticipation of a forthcoming album. The track contrasts light vocal male-female interplay with crunching guitars and minor keys. Welcoming the new tune, the band will kick off a tour on April 30 at Montclair State University. Stay tuned for upcoming tour dates and check out the band's site for all related news. – [...]

Unlike their name, Those Mockingbirds aren't mimics of their NY/NJ musical counterparts. Instead, the Montclair-based five-piece produces a refreshing brand of pop-rock, synthesizing heavy guitars, graceful guitar and violin lines, and multi-part vocals. Their record, "Fa Sol La," released just last month and available for free here , features a mix of songs and musical interludes, including "Mountain Slang I" which begins with gentle waves of sound then segues into crashing guitars on "Coast to Coast," folksy and balladic "Don't Stray," polka-esque "The Bloodiest Gums," visceral "We're Animals," "Fa Sol La" comes full cirlce with serene instrumental [...]

Montclair-based band Those Mockingbirds recently released its third EP Fa Sol La, , a creatively crafted album full of angst and content . Though the EP, running just short of twenty minutes, doesn't hold back and shows Those Mockingbirds as a versatile band. With so many loathe/love albums being released; Fa Sol La sets itself apart with an original instrumental and vocal lineup. Don't be fooled, though. This band doesn't solely depend on clever beats to get you hooked. With witty and thought provoking lyrics like "I'm [...]

I have vivid memories of the artwork—stuff like Zappa, The Beatles, Neil Young—and the must-have in any hippy collection, The Woodstock Soundtrack. However, at a young age, a lot of the album covers scared me. The one that struck me most was Rumors by Fleetwood Mac. Straight up, Mick Fleetwood creeped [...]
