1) Openers Three Trapped Tigers confuse and confuddle with their dense and amply heavy electronica. Drummer Adam Betts is the star of the show providing a jaw dropping level of technical ability that is a clear testament to why they were hand picked for this show by one Chino Moreno. Fans of the vocalists more experimental side project Team Sleep will have found plenty to enjoy here. 2) If we're talking about Deftones ' performances tonight, Chino is as good as he has been for [...]
August 2013 will play host to the first ever Arctangent festival; and while that whole circuit is becoming more and more saturated each Summer, one look at both the line-up and the price of a ticket will be enough to convince you that this festival is the real deal. Set up by some of the team behind the wonderful 2000 Trees , Arctangent looks set to be a beacon for all things math-rock and will play host to some of genre's shining stars; from 65daysofstatic and Three Trapped Tigers to Tall Ships [...]
A week on I’m still having dreams of being at 2000 Trees Festival . Every year is great, but this year was phenomenal. I will try to conduct this post without gushing. I will fail. I was planning on listing all the bands which were amazing, but that would be seriously long and tedious for those of you who didn’t go. If you haven’t already check out my preview post which will give you a snippet of the kind of music which is not mentioned here. [...]
The relevance of the Adelekan kin to contemporary independent music has now become all but inexorably overt, and with Seye secreting such stuff as White Noise and Gbenga propelling Metronomy to such great heights the likes of which Ben Gibbard could only dream of escalading that's an eminently positive thing. And the latter, now operating under the Olugbenga moniker as a DJ extraordinaire (he's just got back from Croatia's Soundwave if you're looking for conclusive certification of his adroitness in plating up) has this week released a freeb in Epic & [...]
Green Man Boat Party By Russell Warfield June 16, 2012 The 2012 Green Man Festival takes place August 17-19, Glanusk Park, Wales ( website / tickets ). Truthfully, I'm running out of fresh ways to gush about the giddying Green Man Festival , so I'm glad that moving to London and being a guest of their annual boat party gives me scope to say new things. (Or, I could just repeat and repeat and repeat my basic sentiment, which I'd struggle to [...]
i numeri da uno a tredici, in altrettanti brani, secondo i Three Trapped Tigers - oltre a questo nuovo album, è appena uscito anche Remix Or Die , una raccolta di remix (gratuita per i primi 1500 download) delle dieci tracce del loro lavoro precedente Route One or Die , uscito nel 2011, come tutti i loro dischi, per Blood and Biscuits . N umbers: 1-13 by Three Trapped Tigers
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of their debut LP, math-rock extraordinaire's Three Trapped Tigers have released a free remix album, featuring re-workings of the albums tracks from the likes of Nedry, Ghosting Season, Gallops and Summer Camp. Remix Or Die is available to stream below or you can download it in its entirety from the Blood & Biscuits Bandcamp page .
Optimistically touted the 'first major festival of the summer', with the Saturday of this year's Camden Crawl quite factually cooler than Christmas the notorious bank holiday blowout gets off to a somewhat slow and strangely tepid start. Three Trapped Tigers bemuse with virtuoso, if exquisitely accomplished aspirational unpleasantness that's ultimately as insipid as an infinity wired into Xfm, whilst Samuel Manville's Hymns breed a reedy unholiness in the grim depths of The Underworld. Its newly snazzed exterior belies its inner filth, just as Manville et al. negate any originality through the assimilation of the [...]
Camden Crawl (4-6 May 2012) // Words: Saam Das Last year, I somehow managed to see twenty bands across two days of the Camden Crawl . This year, I didn't quite get that far but came surprisingly close. Here's something of a chronological splurge of my wanderings around Camden on the Saturday of the festival (which followed the opening night's Koko event, somewhat separate from the Crawl itself). I began [...]
Three Trapped Tigers - Numbers 1-13 By Russell Warfield One of the biggest concerns about releasing a bunch of songs which weren’t actually conceived of as a unified LP is whether or not the thing will hang together cohesively. Numbers 1-13 , collating the three EPs released over the first years of Three Trapped Tigers ’ existence, documents the band’s journey as they honed their skills and developed their deserved reputation as being one of the country’s most exciting post-rock outfits. Of course, the fact that these early [...]
Every once in a while I meet someone who casually mentions that music videos are dead and I'm always shocked. Music videos have never been more alive and vibrant than they are now in the age of video democracy online. This post is a celebration of the creative spirit that fights every day to set great songs to even better visuals. You guys are my heroes. Watch the videos in a countdown stye playlist below or continue on to catch them embedded 1-by-1 with my woefully minimal commentary. [...]
Watching Three Trapped Tigers live is an experience in the greatest sense of the word. They’re one of the best live acts on the circuit; the irregular time signatures, distorted guitar and heavy drums all come together to make for a truly remarkable watch. After three EP’s and a superb debut album Route One Or Die , the electronic three-piece fully deserved this packed out London show at The Garage . When recording, the band try to retain as much raw energy as possible to keep the sound [...]

Here are the day 2 pictures from Camden Crawl Dublin. Margie Lewis kicked things off in the Unitarian Church at 7pm, and then things got a little busy for our intrepid photographer Brid O'Donovan. There were tough clashes all across the city, but she chose Slow Skies in Sweeney's, Hunk, [Read more]

Camden Crawl Dublin – Three Trapped Tigers
Oftentimes, the flowery prose that comprises a band’s bio invites eye-rolling. The adjectives and declarations are a necessary evil, but the accuracy of such vivid descriptions is debatable. So, when you read that Three Trapped Tigers “conjure the contained intensity of their namesake”, you may scoff, but two things must be noted. First off, all the pretty words in the world would have a hard time capturing the beautiful noise created by the London trio, though that sentence is pretty on the money. Second, they don’t really care what label you might affix to them. [...]
Three Songs
Three different genre songs for completely different moods, surely your mood is one of them. As it happens, it seems all of these moods are mine, bizarre concoction of moods. The first song, ABCs, is by Andras Fox , a guy from Melbourne with a hip-hobby for reaching that lounging-around feeling, outrageously on-the-ground chill guy. Sitting on the sofa whilst your eyes dart around. Stops your eyes darting around. Really hold steady hip-hop music. This song features on his Daydreaming Mini-LP , available for free digital Download . The second song, Other Things, is [...]

Three Trapped Tigers - Drebin
"It's a topsy-turvy world, and maybe the problems of two people don't amount to a hill of beans. But this is our hill. And these are our beans." And what beans they are: tangy, full of zing, likely to burst out at unexpected moments. Why this London purveyors of noisy mathrock decided to name this track after the finest lieutenant in the police squad, I have no idea. But it's a great piece, sizzling with treble, static and some chewy drum rolls. Just the sort of refreshing noise you need in weather like this. [...]

Camden Crawl 2012: Day 1 – Luke’s Roundup
Camden has always been known for music. From the hallowed venues of The Underworld and Electric Ballroom, to the local legend of Amy Winehouse , music has been the beating heart of the Town for years. To celebrate this heritage, the concept of Camden Crawl was produced. Now in its eleventh year, the annual 2-day festival has invaded no less than 27 venues hosting over 100 artists for 16 hours a day. It's hectic, intense, and eye-opening; what else would you expect? Kicking off the Saturday are the London-bred purveyors of [...]

News: Three Trapped Tigers: “It’s Time To Renew Ourselves”
Three Trapped Tigers admit that they're ready to begin work on their second album. At this weekend's Constellations Festival, we were lucky enough to chat to the band who admit they're "keen to get back to London to think about other music." After releasing their debut full length 'Route One or Die' earlier this year, the band exclusively told DIY that they feel ready to begin the writing process for album number two: "You've got to think ahead. An album routinely - even with bands of our small size - [...]
