Not only is Three Trapped Tigers a successful book by Cuban writer Guillermo Cabrera Infante, it is also a slightly less famous post-rock trio from London, UK. It definitely says something about them that they are touring with post-rock pioneers 65daysofstatic , as if their glitchy techno beats and Aphex Twin inspired IDM electronica didn't say enough. You definitely cannot fault their work ethic either - within a few weeks of forming as a band they had recorded their first EP together, and within seconds they had named their tracks after numbers from 1 through [...]
The fierce and playful beginning to "1" by Three Trapped Tigers can only be accompanied by grainy shots of smoke-stacks and chaotic lighting on the raging band. In calmer parts of the song, the camera follows an old man on his motorbike traveling through different idyllic landscape-the beach, fields with horses, etc. The band seems to commiserate with the man through the mellow and seemingly sad parts, but these bits give way to a roaring intensity.
The second in the series features a conversation between TOM ROGERSON of Three Trapped Tigers, and GBENGA ADELEKAN bassist in Metronomy.
Three Trapped Tigers play like oil derricks, all thundering, pumping pistons, but they don't go in for the usual stuff like song titles or photos with their faces in them. There's a lot to be said for the life less ordinary, especially when it throws up exotic oddities like this awesome and surprisingly carefree remix from noiseniks Rolo Tomassi. Catch TTT at White Heat in about four hours time with the amazing Gold Panda.

Three Trapped Tigers have the new video to accompany their latest track '12. Confusingly '12 will be released on August 17th on the bands new EP titled simply 'EP22. So just to clarify, that's the single '12 on the EP 'EP22, which just so happens to be the follow up to EP1. Are you following? Three Trapped Tigers could be compared to the likes of Battles, Fuck Buttons and Gang Gang Dance. '12 starts off very in your face but is then followed by a melodic interlude accompanied by an old man riding a bicycle. The [...]

Off Modern , in collaboration with Too Pure Singles , Kruger, FACT , No Pain in Pop , Holy Roar and Backyard Records , presents 7 days of visual and aural stimuli at the upcoming SOUTH EAST IN EAST festival of music and art, showcasing new talent from South East and East London. It all pops off Friday 28 August through Thursday 3 September at Vibe Bar, Brick Lane. By the looks of this stellar line-up, there should be no hesitation, what-so-ever, to attend!! Since we love a good event, [...]
So you're the keyboard player for Emmy the Great. Of course, this isn't your full-time occupation, so how do you spend your time away from knocking out sweet folk-pop melodies? How about creating spiky instrumental math rock which pitches your band as the British Battles? This might not seem like ...
Why is it that electro prog' experimentalists always seem to title their songs with simple numbers? Anyway, that teaser aside, this unorthodox trio of London noise churners through '7', blurs the tingling with the incongruous. Making for a stirring, iFoward, Russia!, M83 and Shy Child mirroring topsy-turvy ride of disco electro-zapping, jarring jolts and [...]

This is the second instalment of the 405's recommendations for bands that must not be missed at this year's Hinterland Festival, Glasgow (30 April - 1 May). Team Waterpolo If you plan on getting drunk then drink double the amount, because it's all going to sweat out when you dance like a freak to this band. www.myspace.com/teamwaterpolo The [...]
With tempo changes all too sudden to comprehend, and a mixture of wildly heavy, angry, violent electro and the softest, most calming, beautiful minimalistic electro one would imagine Three Trapped Tigers' music to be a mess and totally uncomprehendable. You could not be so wrong. This band have such a deep knowledge of the music they're making, and I would imagine the theory behind it, that they've crafted some of the most memorable and exciting music I think I've ever heard. The production values are hugely high, mixing sounds together which veritably fizz inside your ears, creating an impactful experience, [...]
Parts & Labor are coming to Sheffield thanks in part to Uneven Blonde . It'll be alright on the night because they'll be joined by Three Trapped Tigers , Urgent Talk and Rampant Rabbit . This veritable noise rock circus will be hitting The Shakespeare on Gibraltor Street Wednesday 18th February and tickets are available from We Got Tickets , Jack's Records and Toast. If I wasn't as busy as those St. John's Ambulance people at a place where loads of minor accidents happen then I'd definitely be letting my curiosity lead me [...]

Tom Henry Jones By nature, I'm an album guy and prefer to let my impressions of an artist unfold over forty minutes or so. But sometimes I get swept up in the joy of the single - the one individual song - and give the "repeat" button on my CD player a workout that more than makes up for its usual state of neglect. Such was the case of "Nitrogen Pink", the first single from UK singer-songwriter Polly Scattergood (her real name). Musically, it unfurls from a simple, unadorned intro to a thing of [...]

It's Getting Boring By The Sea tipped us off about these guys. Three Trapped Tigers sound like an epic scrap between Battles , Holy Fuck , Warp Records and Neu! The Music Media are already hyping these guys, with Time Out and Clash Magazine standing tall in their support. Whilst the sonic structure of this band may not suit all ears, as an extension of those artists above, and lesser so Foals (who are indeed a rip off from Battles) this is an interesting listen. I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Reid, [...]
Three Trapped Tigers - 1. While the rest of us are trying to get to bed Three Trapped Tigers are out there trying to stay awake, gnashing their jaw against the moon. Theyr'e up there on that mountain with the bells and the drums and all that. It's a heck of a racket, a slinking dance with arms akimbo. Underneath it all is some soul, something entirely British that you can't quite put your finger on. It's the smash of a television set against the concrete, the smash of lips against tits. Listen, I honestly don't know all that much...

Weird indie electronica from a London based band, you don't say! More of the usual that we have come to expect from a burgeoning and increasingly experimental music scene. There's everything on this 5 tracker, from synths to guitars to bleeps and beats. If you are looking for something very different this winter season then try this one out for size. It got me nodding along, especially 'Untitled 1' and '2'. 3/5 YOU MIGHT [...]
