I first got word of Carousel back in September, through their addictive, electro-infused indie track "Games". The trio out of San Francisco is back with "The Thrill", and it's more of the same. Which, in this case, is great news. If you're into the sound, check out their recently released EP titled 26 Allston over here. Download: Carousel - The Thrill Tweet

"Emo purple future bass". There's a collection of words you don't see together very often. Well, apparently it's the style of music Sonkin created when he remixed Dev79 's new collaborative single with Thrills . The new remix marks the return of the series of free mp3s released by Seclusiasis and Slit Jockey . It's been a while since the first installment so I'm sure I'm not alone in celebrating its return. The original track 'Hey Low' is taken from the upcoming Dev79 & Thrills [...]

It's always an exciting time when Thrills & Tony Rocky Horror collaborate on something. If you're even remotely aware of the Sub Philo crew then you'll know this is something worth having. If you're not aware of the Sub Philo crew and you've still not heard Tony Rocky Horror's mixtape he did for our podcast, then where the fuck have you been? The package also features remixes from Gavin Boyce, Sickboy, The Exo, M6 and The Noize Off to round off what promises to be a fast-paced, noisy [...]

By the finish I was scoffing as much as the next fella. There is only so much fake Americanisms that one can take. We get it, you are soaked in the west coast vibe and perhaps it has had a possessive effect but please come back down to earth so we can at least bear to spend 2 hours in your company. It wasn't always this way of course, back in 2001 I saw the Thrills play to half a dozen people in Whelan's and they sounded like the best band I'd ever heard. A couple of years later the [...]
HAL were featured on Obscure Sound over five years ago. They were under-exposed then, and remain so now. That HAL have not released anything in seven years certainly didn't help. Nonetheless, I listened to their eponymous debut very often for several years without tiring of it. Its swirling mixture of Beach Boys-inspired west-coast pop and [...]

Prepare To Meet Thy Broom!

Our good friend Gair "Dev793 Marking has put together a brand spanking new EP on Thrills' ever brilliant Sub Philo imprint. Entitled 'In Grain We Trust', it keeps the style of past releases like 'Live N Die 4 The Street Bass' (a track that took influences from stuff floating around the clubs and blogs last year but did something very different with it), melding bassline and dubstep with hip-hop and glitch. It also brings in some of those Funky drum beats we seem to be getting a taste for right now. If you liked 'Live N Die For [...]

Five years ago I moved out of the San Francisco Bay Area for the snowy, crisp mountains of Colorado. I absolutely love my adopted home, our vibrant music scene, and the fresh air here, but no foolin' I do often long for my hometown hills. Over the holidays I went to San Francisco for a week to stay at the Noe Valley apartment of friends who were out of town and graciously let me "housesit." It was a part of town I had never stayed in before. When I first let myself into their empty place on [...]

Dublin indie pop outfit Hal are back with a new single! Hal were UK media darlings a few years ago and were touted as the new 'The Thrills'!!!! 'Down in the Valley' is a brilliant little poppy song which deserves your listen. Download in exchange of an email address!

The Thrills - Whatever Happened To Corey Haim? I don't know where the Thrills are anymore. On hiatus? Broken? In-cave living? Woodworking workshop? Creative writing? Bemoaning Irish politics and listing - in its wonderful entirety - what exactly has gone wrong? What's certain is that they have disappeared. Probably once Virgin 's desire for further chart topping fell flat, leaving that champagne bottled untouched, its virginity free from clumsy spoils for one further night. And this was all of three years ago now. This song, almost in [...]
