Baskerville Hill Records -- the same label which brought us Black Bear -- is now proudly presenting Throw Me the Statue's Moonbeams. It's some good stuff! MP3: Throw Me the Statue - Lolita The drum machine beauty of this song reminds me of early Magnetic Fields songs, but the rest is ...

Seattle, WA Moonbeams from Throw Me The Statue is my favorite album right now. You're ridiculous if you don't own this one. Highly recommended if you like bands like Cloud Cult. "A Mutinous Dream" Throw Me The Statue on MySpace Throw Me The Statue on The Hype Machine

Any band who name themselves after the slaughtered Kansas family forever immortalized by Truman Capote in In Cold Blood was bound to raise my eyebrows and my suspicions. Visceral has always been one of my favourite adjectives, but I rarely get to use it in such an appropriate way as when describing The Clutters . Far from my musical permutation of choice, I'm actually quite liking this band's hard-edged, yet pop-like sensibilities. The Clutters "9999 (Ways To Hate Us)" + The Clutters + official [...]

Band of Horses haben kürzlich eine UK-exklusive 7-inch veröffentlicht, die irgendwie anders ist als das bisherige Schaffen der Band. Um so besser für die Band, dass der Track trotzdem fesselt. Band of Horses - The Ends not Near Minimal-Indie: immer wieder erstaunlich wie wenig Akkorde ein guter Song braucht. The Rosebuds - Blue Bird Indietronic in Bestform: Throw Me The Statue - About to Walk Der Partykiller im wahrsten Sinn des [...]

If you haven't been keeping up , Seattle's Throw Me The Statue , the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and synth extraordinaire Scott Reitherman, released its debut LP Moonbeams recently and I haven't been able to stop listening to it since picking up a copy a few weeks ago. Since our first post on TMTS, they've been featured on Said The Gramophone , It's Nice That , and on a Sixeyes mix, and I've heard they've picked up some airplay on KEXP too--all much deserved praise for one of the catchiest and most [...]

Last Night's show was supposed to start at 8:30 @ the Echo . But the case wasn't the time nor venue. Due to serious technical/crapped systems & stuff not working, the show moved downstairs to Echoplex, begun around 10:30 ! The Echoplex is such a sweet venue and you can tell by the seating, larger stage, & the clean bathrooms! (unheard of). Here are some pic of the show. Kira Kira , Caroline , and Tom Brosseau opened with [...]

Throw Me The Statue - "Young Sensualists". Few things are so suited to bittersweetness as pop songs. Scott Reitherman's bedroom pop - catchy melodies, uke and synth, part Guided By Voices & part Magnetic Fields, - wields a wistfulness that's sometimes breathtaking. "Young Sensualists" is pensive, honest, filled with the blossom-scent of nostalgia; the story of two pals, a mutual crush, and the way a friendship can simply end. It's not a warning, a confession or an elegy - it's a recollection, a witnessing, a message in a bottle (for the sea to read). On this track Reitherman sounds oddly [...]

Seattle has always been a city know for its extremes: a variety of stereotypes and exaggerations embedded in the minds of thousands of people who've probably never even been there. And while your chances of finding some grunge throwback trekking through the rain past a fish market while sipping his double-tall latte on the way to his nameless tech job are realistically pretty damn high, you're probably never gonna head to that corner of the world to find out for sure. So just for good measure, here's an up-and-coming band out of Seattle for you to base yet [...]
