It was pretty much a year ago when Py released her Tripping on Wisdom mixtape. Collaborating with the likes of George Fitzgerald and Throwing Snow , it turned out to be one of the standout releases of the year in which she basically brought together all that was good about electronic music at the time. June 30th sees the release of her highly anticipated follow-up Polyethers , it's produced by Jimmy Edgar and is every bit as special as I'd hoped it to be. Stream below:

It seems there's a new collaboration just about every day, most of which fizzle out either because of conflicted schedules or because there was only ever a finite amount of mileage in the collected creativity. It is with a certain degree of trepidation then that I bring you news of a partnership between Throwing Snow and vocalist Augustus Ghost . Following on from their first dalliance together, the 'Lost At Sea' EP (released through Local Action ), the duo will treat us to an entire full-length album, 'A Small Murmuration', [...]

Throwing Snow's tunes have always been maleable enough to operate in a dance music context, but have never been aimed directly at the dancefloor per se. The way he twists his bass melodies brings about an introspective quality absent in most straightforward bangers. That being said, tracks like "Melum" and his remix of Eskmo's "We Got More" do plenty to get the good ol' blood flowing. With that in mind, take a gander at his latest track, a collaboration with his brother Alistair made for the sole purpose of rump shakin'. The track follows the general [...]

I did an interview with 2013 Red Bull Music Academy participant, producer Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow that dropped today. Check out my favorite answer below, and read the entire interview over at The Line Of Best Fit . Do you still use field recordings? "Yeah, all the time. There’s lots of crackles and pops, and weird sounds I find, or have been given by people. Like the one in ‘Brook’, there’s a little loop, a lady talking to some old people. Will Plowman’s sister was using [...]

Intriguing electronic producer, Ross Tones, aka Throwing Snow has had an incredible 2012, with two EPs, the launch of his label Snowfall and a ton of gigs He invited Best Fit into his world of complexly layered concepts to talk about the current music scene, lamb stew and the busy year ahead. The description of the 2007 EP Footnotes is, “a cross between folk, electronica, breaks and world music that strives to bring field recordings and instrumentation together in pleasant disarray." Would you [...]

When you look at it Throwing Snow's 2012 was pretty damn special. The Bristol man (known to his friends and family as Ross Tones) released 2 EPs ( Aspera and Clamor ) coloured with some of the year's most absorbing electronic music. Between the circuitry and the field recordings Tones created emotion, widescreen synths and a real sense of exploration. We caught up with Ross to discuss the records, the sounds and the future. Bowlegs: So now you have released two excellent EP’s in 2012! Do you see the Aspera EP as [...]

2012 was a real exciting year for us at Dipped in Dollars. Big love to all of the artists who stepped up for interviews and Substitute Teachers mixes, and we're really looking forward to showing you what we've got in store for 2013. One of our favorites, Throwing Snow , is back with another single from his Aspera EP . "Behest" is dark and myserious, with a pounding beat that instantly lulls one into a sense of calm. I immediately invoke images of a winter roadtrip through a frosty landscape - but perhaps the snow in his name is influencing me. Nonetheless, I am transfixed as always, longing for the rest of the EP. Aspera is out now, stream the rest of the tracks here .

Musically soo attractive and engaging, I wish this EP came out earlier in the year only because you'd see it on more Top Releases of the year lists instead of being shadowed by them. What really separates Throwing Snow from most producers is his approach of fitting in the softening blows with mixing melody and having a good time in a genre that is quickly swerving into the club scene. He executes one of the hardest things, sharing melodic beat music to friends without you feeling like having to share something clubby or saying "oh [...]
Finest Ego Monthly Mix: Empt This mix is super fly. Y’all know I rep the Finest Ego family, and not just because they let me tag up their site every now and again. They have their finger on the pulse of the emerging beatmaker scene and have put out a lot of the releases I end up talking about on GITNB. Empt is just one of those cats. He couldn’t have picked a classier mix of songs for this mix. I just keep pressing play. Tracklist: [...]

After the release of the acclaimed 'Clamor' EP earlier this year, Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow is back with another endearing bedroom track of washed out synths a mist chilled melodies. His second, 'Aspera' will be released December 3rd under the Snowfall imprint. 'Behest' lends itself to beautiful yet cold tones of escapism that can ironically warm the soul. This young and talented UK producer is an absolute must follow for anyone looking to relax to new sounds.

As said earlier I often discover fairly unknown producers via SoundCloud and Youtube, mostly young guys in their bedrooms creating dope tracks. Today I found something slightly different on SoundCloud, a producer, who seemed to have made quite a name for himself but somehow was unknown to me, called Throwing Snow . He has had multiple releases before and listening back they’re all beautiful. Now Throwing Snow is readying his newest EP ‘Aspera’ and has shared Behest , the EP’s closer. It is a must-listen if you like the dreamy, spacious and smooth tracks that [...]

It had been a little while since we had heard from Throwing Snow prior to him dropping his rather superb new track Aspera , just under a month ago. Now we have the second cut from his imminent new EP (Dec 3 rd ). Just under 5 minutes of masterfully executed and epically developed house music, in the loosest sense of the word. It’s grand in scope, weighty in its themes and frankly his EP’s release can’t come soon enough.

Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow has answered the "how do you follow a near-perfect track?" question by releasing an even better track, which is frightening considering they account for 50% of forthcoming EP, Aspera . Have a listen to 'Behest' below, and look out for his Aspera EP when it's released on December 3rd.
