Sydney's Flume shares 5 of his favorite artists on SoundCloud.
Woah. No, you didn't read that incorrectly. This is the September edition of the maamf mixtape series. After a crazy busy month or so, I've finally gotten round to chucking all my fave tracks of the month into one tape. All local stuff, all fucking good. MAAMF - September '12 MIXTAPE TRACKLISTING: Bloods - Turn [...]

Australia is a music lover’s paradise, with incredible talent rampant within their relatively small population (just under 23 million). While a lot of acts receive the lion’s share of local (and international) success, some genres are often overlooked. The growing beats/electronica community seems to be one of those under-appreciated groups, often hidden behind Australia’s pop, rock and dance acts. It seems silly considering the sheer volume of incredible music being put out, so surely this will be a temporary oversight. For tonight's Sunday Night Chill, here’s a pick of some of the smoothest acts currently doing [...]
Man, two mixes in as many days. This here be the MAY mixtape, full of the tracks that have helped me survive what has been a really full on month. In true maamf form, it's a whole heap of genres in there from the killer techno of Sydney gents CSMNT61 to the Australiana sing-a-long feel [...]

electronic // downtempo Supple beats marry shimmering coral chords in seaside bliss amid warming, caressing petals of sky to rendezvous your senses and massage on contact. Transposed emotions from Melbourne form piano flute cloudscapes, dazzling luminous sunsets, and curious blips washed in reverb flowing uptempo or downbeat. Jack Vanzet's Voyages blossom into euphoric rewards for your ears, and his Unfinished Business is a 19-minute dopamine symphony of calming awe. Dreamy audio estuary. [...]

Thrupence mastermind Jack Vanzet once cried, “Music is witchcraft!” That may be, but his new album is far from paranormal—it shows only positive signs of earthly hard work and attention to detail. Music Player (reviews): [...]

Photo: artpunk This little compilation is the product of something I have been slowly working on for a few weeks now. Its an attempt to showcase or highlight some of the brilliant artists in this country that I truly admire but don't often write about. This being said, I discovered a large proportion of these artists from leading blogs such as East to West and Life Aquatic . I would never have come across artists such as Network , Dom_Bird , Motion.Picture.Actress and Yosemite if it [...]

Melbourne’s Jack Vanzet is Thrupence. It's rare when I come across an album that I enjoy from front to back, so that means Thrupence is something special. It's such a great album to kick back and relax to especially with midterms/finals coming up for many of you. Thrupence-Synchronous Bloom Voyages EP (9 track) SoundCloud

It's not too often I find a whole album I like. The last one was the Gil Scott/Jamie XX album. And now Voyages, the debut EP from a 21-year-old Australian, Jack Vanzet aka Thurpence . Voyages, a blissed out downtempo mood piece that seems to drift between ambient oceans and palm tree paradise... Comparable to Boards of Canada, Tortoise, Four Tet, etc. Perfect for this much-too-early spring rain storms. I've posted the album player below so you can listen to the whole thing, and then head on over to the Thurpance bandcamp page to name your own [...]

Guest Post: Episode 2 - Meet Smoke Dont Smoke In episode 2 of our Guest Post features we speak to the founder of LA based music blog Smoke Dont Smoke . What’s up people of Earth? My name is Tim, I run Smoke Don’t Smoke . The blog is almost three years old, and honestly kind of started by accident. I started a tumblr, really with no idea in particular in mind. I knew I wanted to somehow show case art, music, stories, etc. that [...]

Thrupence - Winston Melbourne producer, Thrupence , has risen to the top of my list of people to watch with his previous two beat tapes. The thing is, he was making those beat tapes from old scraps, beats he didn’t know what to do with. Beats he might just throw away if he didn’t find something to do with them. It’s like being beat by someone playing left handed, only to find out the whole time they’re actually right-handed . [...]
Don't get out of bed. Really. You don't have to. Just sleep through your classes, your job, responsibilities, count the dots in the ceiling, feel the morning sun on your toes. Maybe you take a hot shower at noon (if you must), then read that book you've been meaning...
Don't get out of bed. Really. You don't have to. Just sleep through your classes, your job, responsibilities, count the dots in the ceiling, feel the morning sun on your toes. Maybe you take a hot shower at noon (if you must), then read that book you've been meaning to, text that person you like, watch some NBA highlights, Thrupence is the soundtrack to this day. Then you go to bed. After graduating from Monash (in Melbourne) with a Bachelor of Design, Jack Vanzet made a style for himself. He's the creative director, illustrator, [...]
