Hungover hooks, a lotta distortion, and Lone Star beer fuels one-man-band Thunder Buffalo. The debut self-titled album from Seattle's Aaron Schroeder pivots on gnarly San Fran garage rock and '60s psych nostalgia but assigns a tin-y Texas twang (Schroeder's from Austin) to the formula that'd be home as a jukebox backdrop to a dangerous [...]

Ending the week on the rather freaky date stamp 10/10/10 with a pair of Fanatic Promos. Minor effort with major stimulation, you can always guarantee some quality audio moments. "Up-state NY has terrible winter weather. The Tins are from Binghamton and Buffalo, possibly the snowiest places in the US. They have plenty of time to practice, and know how to plan to get to a show on time". Intricately constructed musical blurbs, genre-less entertainment, you can [...]
Short and sweet; I expect this show will be intensely fun, from start to finish. Plus, it benefits the Seattle Tilth. . The local bands have all had a lot of buzz recently (and thru Subsonic): 9:45pm – 10:15pm Butts ( read the Subsonic post here ) 10:30pm – 11:15pm Thunder Buffalo (recently signed with our friends @ Sarathan Records. Heard they play a fast furious set.) 11:30pm – 12:15am The Lights ( Subsonic post [...]
"Well, it's Friday - the last day of our Sarathan Records spotlight. This week, each band shared an exclusive song, selected just for The Vinyl District in celebration of the upcoming Record Store Day (April 17th). Don't fret that our week is over - we have more music to share! Two more songs from Thunder Buffalo, Two Loons for Tea, Feral Children, Peter Bradley Adams and War Tapes. [...]
Record labels. Depending on your point of view, they're either a hopelessly archaic method of music dissemination in this era of bedroom wizardry, or they're stalwarts who've adapted to ten million new paradigms and have found a reinvented model for success. Well, some have anyway. The successful ones have done so in a manner that's almost gang-like in the sense that the smartest ones have chosen their niche and have run with it. They've gathered a family of like [...]

I would say having your own `signature edition` guitar certainly confirms an already legendary status most of today`s artists could merely dream off. Roy Orbison`s 1962 Epiphone 12-string is as iconic to his memory as those trademark dark shades, Orbison used his original Epiphone acoustic to write and perform many of his most well-known songs including perhaps his biggest hit, `Oh, Pretty Woman`. Although a stunning limited-edition piece of kit the U.S retail price runs just over $1300, the combination of fine materials and build quality make it a valuable purchase. Looking forward to Gibson/Epiphone`s unit price here in the [...]

This is the perfect follow up to the the sleazy, grimy, groovy garage-blues theme we started with the Archie Bronson Outfit earlier. Because yesterday on the other side of the pond Thunder Buffalo released their self-titled debut album. We've already posted about these guys following first news of the album and the advance release of fuzzed up rock'n'roller Bebop Sing-A-Long . Now we have another track to tempt you with, the equally good Gloomy In Us All . Hopefully it will be enough to encourage you to [...]

I was kind of kicking myself the other day for not having gone out to the Cha Cha Lounge to see Thunder Buffalo this past Sunday night. Their self-titled album has been rocking my world of late, but apparently not enough to get me out on a school night. Lucky for me that they have a few gigs scheduled in the next two months. The band are based here in Seattle by way of Austin and are a combination, of parts Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Gallon Drunk and Thee Oh [...]

photo by Jodi Kaufer You can tell a lot from a name, rightly or wrongly. It's a very human response - there's a reason that the man who devastated half the world in the 1930s and 40s changed his name. Even desperately poor Germans couldn't take Adolf Schicklgruber seriously. And so what type of music do you think Thunder Buffalo make? Ten points for those of you who correctly guessed 'grimy rock', but minus ten points for those of you who thought that predictable song titles like [...]
It was all a bit busy last month so we missed a few goodies that came our way. We're only just catching up with them now and have a few to share with you.Inu are a San Francisco based trio playing electro tinged rock with a suitably downbeat, slightly gothic feel. Their new release Monster EP is a collection of well-crafted songs that slowly creep up and overwhelm you if given the chance.
