Sometimes, the best songs are not the newest songs. We all have at least one old song that we throw on constantly, even though it's outdated. Often times, some of these songs are even songs that never went mainstream, but should have. Well, we have thousands of these songs, that's why we do Throwback Thursdays. Once a week, we will bring you a glorious track that we just can't shake off. Whether it be a year, five years, or ten years old, we'll show you one dated song that will tickle your fancy. In light of [...]
"What It's Like" - Everlast ( Whitey Ford Sings The Blues , 1998) "you really might know what it's like to have to lose..."
"What Would You Do?" - City High (2001) "a whole lots changed since I seen you last..."

The Real Tuesday Weld's new album cane out on July 12th. Not sure how I missed that. It is an soundtrack to a book (The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan), which I find fascinating. Steven Coates says this about his band: " [The Real Tuesday Weld make] lyrical songs with a cut and paste collage of jazz, swing, Serge Gainsbourg, Morricone, Eno, Dorothy Parker; songs about love, but not love songs; sadness and frivolity. I suppose I have been trying to capture the sound of an old radio playing something you half-know or half-remember. " [...]
My review of the Taking Back Sunday and Thursday show at Best Buy Theater, July 17th 2011.
By: Greg Grits I had the distinct pleasure of spending part of my fourth of July weekend with Taking Back Sunday in Phoenix, AZ at The Marquee Theater. It's been a few years since I last joined them and not only are they back with their strongest album in a long while, but this tour also marks the return of TBS's original line up. The show started with The New Regime who were decent, but ultimately forgettable. After a few more drinks The Colour Revolt took the stage and [...]

Every Thursday evening, John Vettese is your host for two hours of Philly Local music. Starting tonight, we're moving the show to a new time: 7–9 p.m. on XPN2. And, during the first hour each week, join John for The Key Studio Sessions Hour —which features an in-studio performance and interview with a Philly band or musician. Tomorrow night at 7 p.m., we'll be airing Arches ' studio session; the band has a new concept album, Wide Awake, out now and will be playing Johnny Brenda's on Saturday, July 16th. And the XPN2 Philly Local Hour With Jake Rabid [...]

"Message In a Bottle" - The Police ( Reggatta de Blanc , 1979) "love can mend your life..." Bonus: "Message In A Bottle (Stereotronique Bootleg)" - The Police by stereotronique "seems I'm not alone at being alone..."
On June 20, Drake released "Trust Issues" – the first track off his upcoming sophomore LP Take Care , which is due out Oct. 24 via Young Money Records . Everyone knows about the long standing relationship between The Weeknd and Drake, so it came to no shock that Abel Tesfaye, the man himself, doctored up a future garage, neo-soul, remix of this momentous track. Tastefully melodramatic, aurally evocative, and deceptively poignant, this remix represents everything we've come to expect from The Weeknd. Just wait until Thursdays [...]

The Weeknd has been in the studio banging out new tracks because, well, when you're currently one of the hottest tickets on the planet at present, why wouldn't you? Drake might have made the song "Trust Issues" famous, but Abel Tesfaye turns this song out by placing his deliberate, uncompromising voice into the mix. The dynamic and enigmatic duo are currently working on completing two new mixtapes: Thursday , which will likely pop out by July sometime, and their back-to-school release, Echoes of Silence . Among the many [...]

For once I was online while The Weeknd decided to upload a new song. This translated into me getting to download the track before it maxed out. Win for me. This time around he decides to put his own spin on Drake's last release Trust Issues . Fun story: Universal Music Group has decided to start a war with the internet and has been pulling any trace they can find of any music even remotely related to them. So when Drake makes a completely independent track and [...]

In the famous words of Default........ It's been awhile. It's been awhile since I've posted anything on this website but I'm here on this special edition of Thrashing Thursdays to break that dry spell and open the flood gates on some spankin' tunes that have been burning my ears lately. This week's offerings include a MASSIVE banger from Pretty Lights that shows no mercy, a dirty remix of the classic 'Jump Around' from Jantsen who dishes out ample wub wub and a genuine 'get-crunk-to-this' track from Rico Tubbs [...]

I'm definitely not one of the people that has worn out listening to The Weeknd's debut mixtape/album "House Of Balloons," though I am definitely ready for some new music to drop. While we're still waiting for the new mixtape "Thursday" to hit, here's a fantastic remix of "Rolling Stone" from Tate La Rock and Troublemaker . You can still download "House Of Balloons" for free. MP3: The Weeknd - Rolling Stone (Tate La Rock & Troublemaker Remix)
Good morning. I just got off my flight from Kauai. I have been up forever but too much music has been released this past week. Long story short, I need to catch up. Here's a new joint from The Weeknd, so of course, enjoy. With this video being posted by the artist himself on his personal YouTube account, the links and everything you need is listed. Filed under: Electronic , Hip-Hop/Rap , Mixtape , Music , New Independent Artists Tagged: the birds part one , the [...]

Back in March of this year, a mysterious singer/group called The Weeknd (yes, no "e") released the buzzed-about mixtape House of Balloons . Aside from the music's obvious strength, the release gained even more attention because, well, it was shrouded in a good bit of mystery. Not much was known about the project, which only intensified the seductive, atmospheric R&B that was contained on therein. The sound was dark, euphoric, amorous, and, needless to say, slick. It was eventually revealed that The Weeknd is Toronto-based singer Abel Tesfaye supported by the production skills of Canadian producers Doc [...]
This past March, Toronto based R&B artist Abel Tesfaye and producers Doc McKinney and Illangelo self-released House of Balloons under the moniker " The Weeknd ". It was well received, and the genre bending hype seemed substantiated in that elements of future garage, R&B, pop, soul, and minimalist electronic music were seamlessly blended making for a hi-fi aural experience. The Weeknds upcoming album Thursdays is posed for release sometime this summer, and is the second installment in a trilogy of albums inspired by different seasons. "The Birds (Part 1)" is presumably the [...]

Presumably, "The Birds Pt. 13 is set to crash land on The Weeknd's project to come later this summer, Thursday . Still shrouded in a clout of mystery, the Canadian singer let loose of the track last night, and while I am somewhat intrigued by his music ( "High For This" is my sh*t), I cannot shake the feeling this sounded exactly like The-Dream. Maybe it's a songwriter-turnt-singer thing. Claims have been thrown around saying this guy is one of the best things to happen to R&B since tear-away wife beaters. Anyone got [...]
