The beautiful thing about a festival like Pitchfork is the genre-spanning curating: The principal principle is a commitment to independent-minded music, and from that viewpoint Pitchfork succeeds in booking the year's best lineup for those whose RSS feeds are dominated by MP3 blogs and Google searches most frequently include the term ".rar". No matter what festival you attend. It doesn't matter who's manning the sound boards and it doesn't matter how many speakers are pointing at the crowd. When you have 30+ bands playing over three days someone is going to get cursed by shit sound. Friday, unfortunately, that performer was Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore.
