Its been years since we got a new album from The Postal Service, and it looks like we're gonna have to keep waiting for a lot longer. In the meantime there have been a slew of electronic pop acts that have tried to build on what the Postal Service left behind, but most of those were just fleeting projects that never really took off. Now we get a Belgian artist called Styrofoam and the

Annie Sachs is set to release her debut at the end of April under her playfully named alias, Tickley Feather . The self-titled album will be released through the Animal Collective-founded label, Paw Tracks , which has already succeeded in bringing at least one artist, Ariel Pink, from the underground to...well, not as underground. In that same vein, Tickley Feather has been plucked from relative obscurity and will soon find herself the victim of critical judgement. Fortunately for her, the past four years she spent recording her album [...]

Tickley Feather, Tickley Feather (Paw Tracks 2008) Newest Paw Tracks signee out of Philly sounds like a one-woman Indian Jewelry with more pop sense and less Throbbin Gristle ... or like Planningtorock channeled thru Ariel Pink's 4-track (good combos) ... album's out in April, I'm eager to hear more. The one area that I have been trying to gain a better knowledge and I have found it challenging, mainly because I do not have the ability to attend shows on a regular basis, is tap into the wealth of music here is Chicago. However, I have a feeling that is all about to change. Today I bring the music of The Interiors . Their sound ranges from straightforward pop to fast-paced and gritty swinging numbers. Never pinned-down, they reference everything from the Pixies to Elvis to traditional African music. If it sounds like an interesting, I would agree, [...]

As I write this I'm on a sorta "non-stop" flight from Philly to Los Angeles (now a few days ago). A kid is digging his foot into my back and my arms are scrunched up in my seat as I try to type because the dude in front of me decided to recline his seat all the way. There's also a cute little "lap child" (as the stewardess politely referred to her as) that I've been amusing with pictures of my dog until she lost interest and started eating animal crackers and playing with dominos. I'm not [...]
TICKLEY FEATHER is music from an inbetween world, where sound rarely escapes to full fruition, but instead is forced back into a cosmic aural shaker where it can assume a state of perpetual resonation in the foreground of chaos and whimsy. Tickley Feather is the self-titled debut by Philadelphia's Annie Sachs, and it will be set free by Animal Collective's Paw Tracks label on April 29, 2008. audio: Tonight is the Nite.mp3 video: Sex Face [...]

Paw Tracks is slowly amassing a roster of innovative and clever music manipulators, and now Tickley Feather's Annie Sachs is a piece of macaroni in Yankee Doodle's cap. WE HAVE A NEW CRUSH! TICKLEY FEATHER, the self-titled debut by Philadelphia's Annie Sachs, is a collection of late night path-finding sounds, gingerly home recorded using budget electronics. Selected from the past four years, these songs are washed in effects and demonstrate a barbaric yet meticulous instrumentation, along with a paradoxically, otherworldly and natural vocal style. The resulting sounds tell a secret [...]

I think I've mentioned Philly's Annie Sachs , aka Tickley Feather , once or twice in this space. I finally received a copy of her lucid-dream-inducing debut LP, due out April 29 on Paw-Tracks . I originally likened her sound to an underwater carnival, and that holds true on the record, which is both eerily haunting and playfully child-like and sweet; almost like the aural equivalent to those playground scenes in The Orphanage . This could have something to do with the fact that Sachs' [...]

So who has Doug Wallen, writer for Philadelphia Weekly chosen as the hot indie Philly bands to watch in '08? Read this article for the dealio. Have to hand it to Doug; he's definitely made some excellent choices including cover girl Tickley Feather . And we think after extensive background checks none of these bands is actually from Brooklyn. PW's Big Four Picks: War On Drugs - Recently [...]

20JFG love the woods devoid of nice animals, the woods where you find skulls with hollowed out eyes dwelling of silently laborious beetles, the woods which never stay quiet, every step entails trampling on life which feeds on life, sleep on that damp soil and wake up in the morning feeling feebler and older, the earth has taken a bit of your soul unprotected by spells of pavement and distance with roots that spread around you like skeleton tentacles. These woods shine fosforescent in the night and talk with the wind about things you don't know, maybe mankind's war against [...]
I have a feeling we'll be hearing quite a bit about Philadelphia 's Tickley Feather in the not-so-distant future. She opened Panda Bear 's recent Philly show, and she's been picked to support Animal Collective on the second half of their upcoming fall U.S. tour. She seems like an inspired choice, and I imagine her otherworldly, super lo-fi, underwater carnival folk ballads (see " Natural Natura l" and " Sex Face ") will go over extremely well with AC fans. No word on a full-length at this point, but you can get Tickley Feather [...]
