The inenarrable godhead of delight? Love is a flame:-we have beaconed the world's night. A city:-and we have built it, these and I. An emperor:-we have taught the world to die. So, for their sakes I loved, ere I go hence, And the high cause of Love's magnificence, And to keep loyalties young, I'll write those names Golden for ever, eagles, crying flames, And set them as a banner, that men may know, To dare the generations, burn, and blow Out on the wind of Time, shining and streaming . So I've been trying to put together a list of my top 10 albums of 2007, something I feel obliged to do, despite the fact that everything at this time of year is in convenient list form. The problem I've found myself having is that basically I can't come up with 10 albums. I don't know if it's the fact that I haven't been posting (count how many posts separate this one from the same one last year.. yeah..) or if there just wasn't an awful lot of stellar music this year or what, but here are my top 8 [...]

2007 Record Review Recap - TIGER ARMY: The headliners of this year's Warped Tour were Tiger Army. The band's fourth and most ambitious album, " Music From Regions Beyond " (Hellcat Records) is now on store shelves and is definitely worth a listen on a hot summer night. It's the first release from the band in three years and has a markedly different feel than the group's earlier records. The album was put together (and most certainly impacted) by producer Jerry Finn whose credits include recent records for [...]

One summer I was working near a college doing menial work. I was young and it was an exciting location. There were young people - who while still far older than me, they were just starting out in this place of learning. One day I found a large stack of hardcover books on top of a dumpster. I would end up reading them all from front to back. One of these great volumes was Norman Mailer's "The Naked and the Dead." Important to me, was that my own grandfather (now since passed) was a WWII veteran in the Pacific Theater. [...]

Somehow I lost contact with Spin.com's excellent site, so with this post I'm making up for lost time. Much musical enrichment still awaits you there. And in a desperate bid for some kind of thematic integrity, I pour in the potent Alkaline Trio at the end. Tiger Army - Afterworld mp3 - These Angelenos don't look all that poppy, but this song is. Powerpoppers don't always get to experience

About five years ago, when I was living in Berkeley, I'd heard of a little local band called Tiger Army. I was in my punk and ska phase, and so they were a hit with me right away. As time went on, I'd forgotten about their music, though the name lingered in the remote recesses of my mind. To say I was surprised that they'd made their way to an LA radio station would be an understatement. It was kinda nice to get reacquainted with their music, [...]
