Jag fyller 30 i år, och för första gången på 10 år det som passerat; mina upplevelser, åstadkom - kvar? I have packing to do since I'll be getting on a plane early Saturday afternoon for some R&R and some TLC. I shall return in a week, till then... I'm one that believes if the original recording artist got as close to perfect as they could get with a song, then leave well enough alone. We can't listen to metal all the time, but whatwith the massive amount of CDs and press packs we receive it's hard to find time to get to anything else. Usually if I'm not listening to metal it's '70s soul/r&b/funk with some classic reggae or dub thrown in for the more "festive" occasions, but there [...]
While the magazines and major indie music sites are rolling out with their top of the year picks, there are a lot of bands that aren't really getting their due. And some that are getting too much, like Vampire Weekend. I read more about folks hating them than having much love for 'em. There were some really good albums that came out this year that didn't get enough attention/hype or got shot down by some critic's review. It's a shame, really.
