Joel Ford y su proyecto Airbird publicaron recientemente un disco de 12" llamado "City Vs. Mountains". Y bueno, justo para iniciar el año, el artista presenta una nueva canción instrumental, "We Used To", la cual te presentamos aquí (alguien describe su sonido como si Tom Waits hiciera new wave). Si te gusta, puedes buscar cosas de Tigercity, donde también toca Ford. El próximo disco EP del artista se publicará este año en el sello software We Used To by airbird
It will have been a long time since you had this much fun listening to a rock band from New York City. Spacecamp with their debut EP Alibi just released on Tuesday, offer up lead single, "Miko D.T.B" or, if we can gather from the song's first lyrics, "Miko dropped the ball." What emerges is a song in two movements, the first a glittering array of synths and angular guitars that almost recall
Games is composed of Dan Lopatin of the excellent crypto-incense-noise project Oneohtrix Point Never, and his longtime friend Joel Ford of Tiger City. They make some next level 802s by way of 2010 analog synth jams, inspired by dance-workout VHS cassettes and drugged-out haze nights and vintage Junos. Fuck. Hell yes. This is the future of the past. "Strawberry Skies" is such a perfect stone-cold puzzlebox anthem. This is the theme song of Tree Catheters. Tree Cathedrals. Cats in trees. Whatever. Perfection. My brain can barely contemplate. The veil of Maya has been [...]

We're psyched to co-premiere this new stunner from Games , the "sample / synth collaboration" from best friends Daniel Lopatin of Oneohtrix Point Never and Joel Ford of Tigercity . Warped '80s nostalgia trip " Shadows in Bloom " is a glimpse into the immersive, decidedly cinematic vintage synth wizardry that can be heard on the group's next-level new That We Can Play 123, out November 2 on Hippos in Tanks . Games :: [...]
Hopscotch Music Festival 2010 Wrap Up Do you ever get the feeling that some things were just made to be? Perhaps you have found your perfect match. Or maybe your extreme love for an instrument, a sport, a subject — was it planned for reasons greater than your momentary happiness? I know it's not typically okay to put your beliefs in greater beings in a public space, but I am going to break all political rules and tell it how [...]
The inaugural Hopscotch Music Festival was just announced for the weekend of September 9th-11th in downtown Raleigh, NC, and the lineup is heavy on bands that we love around here like Tortoise , Atlas Sound , Panda Bear , Broken Social Scene and more... Tickets are now on sale and $85 will get you a wristband allowing access to all of the shows, so follow their Twitter account for the latest updates straight from the source. I may actually try to go to this as one of my [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours Like many bands, Tigercity has gone through several lineup changes. Each member has added something new to the mix, contributing to the sound that AV Club described as "a Hall and Oates meets Prince that's somehow devoid of any nudge-nudge-wink-wink irony." Bassist Joel Ford spoke to Spinner -- with an assist from singer Bill Gillim -- before heading to Austin for SXSW . Describe your [...]

"un-ironic lite rock sound ala Hall and Oates and Prince…" Press releases can be misleading and slightly worrying at times; I read the above statement and imagined padded shoulders, dodgy quiffs and endless Dynasty/Magnum P.I. re-runs. In actual fact Tigercity are more than your average 80's tribute band. Yes, their sound is more than a little bit [...]

Ever since they released their critically-acclaimed EP "Pretend Not To Love" back in 2007, Brooklyn'sp pop-rock outfit Tigercity has gained lots of street cred by mixing and mashing light rock tunes with traditional pop sensibilities. Think Hall and Oates, Prince and a few Yacht rockers. They are currently on tour with French Horn Rebellion who have remixed Tigercity's "Ancient Lover."p The remix starts progresses from a thick atmospheric piece to a slinky electro-pop workout with a bouncy bassline and catchy synth riff that balance perfectly with Bill Gillim's vocals. Highly recommended. [...]

With their carefully crafted, folk like odes you could easily compare A Weather to a lot of the bands they chose for their best albums of 2009. The slow tempo, deep feeling of their music would play well with Wye Oak, Bon Iver, or Grizzly Bear, and so it's not too surprising to see some of their choices this year. Of course they probably should have included their own Cove on this list, but I guess that wouldn't be totally kosher. A Weather - "Oh My Stars" [...]

After publishing one of the best tracks of summer '09 together with Brazil kids of glitz Database , French Horn Rebellion are back with their latest work for Tigercity's airy piece Ancient Lover . Introducing this beautiful newborn pop-gem with sounds of nature, the American duo of gleam waltz in your hood with a precious sparkling work, exuding moony stirring warmth. Mp3: Tigercity - Ancient Lover (French Horn Rebellion Remix)
Ancient Lover, the self-released debut album from Tigercity, takes an irony-free approach to cheesy '70s/'80s soul and new wave. Yes, the Brooklyn band plays "smooth rock." So when frontman Bill Gillim made MAGNET a mix tape, we weren't too surprised by the inclusion of the likes of Chic and Luther Vandross. "Fake Gold" (download): Chic "Happy Man" Chic has [...]

Finally got my shiny new Apple iMac ! Sooo much better than the piece of crap I had before. Don't know why I waited so long to get it. Being without a computer for a week overflowed my inbox with new music submissions. I'll be in catch up mode for the next week or so. Anyways Art Basel was pretty insane last week. So many people and events it's kinda overwhelming, but it's still better than how the Miami art scene usually is here, so I kinda wish it would never end. Minus all [...]
