…I’d have been at the Indian Summer festival. I’ve not been back in the homeland all year, but this could have been a good reason to go back. But I didn’t. However, BBC 6 Music were onto it, and spent the weekend covering the festival. So I spent a good chunk of Sunday cooking and listening to live music from the West End of Glasgow. There’s all this talk about ‘boutique festivals’ this summer. The absence of Glastonbury seems to have encouraged even more festivals to be staged. Except they’re not going for the [...]
If you know anything about Tilly and the Wall you probably know one or all of the following three things: 1) they were named after a children's book about a mouse , 2) they are buddies with Conor Oberst , and 3) they favour tap shoes over drumkits (although on their recent sophomore album, "Bottoms of Barrels" they have made some use of drums). While this third point has been called a gimmick I think it is more taking advantage of the talents of a member of the band to create a sound that is rather unique [...]

OK, so it seems it's Electric Picnic week on the blog, so I thought I would put up some music from bands that are playing the festival this year. We alll know what most of the headline acts are we want to see so this post is going to highlight some of the smaller acts playing. I hope you find something you like and If you're going, go see the band! Simple. 1. Tilly and the Wall Foggy Notions Stage Sat- 20:00-20:45 [...]

I love zombie films. They're just so badly made and stupid but the shoddiness endears them to me. I love the fake blood, the always pathetic blonde girl and the way the characters always seem to do the stupidest things, which usually ends up with them getting munched. We just had a zombified night round my house with some friends. Played the boardgame Zombies! while watching the original Dawn Of The Dead , it was awesome. My friends thought the black guy in it was Laurence Fishburne but it so isn't. I'm sure its the guy in [...]
Reported on Drownedinsound yesterday, Tilly And The Wall are playing a warm up show in Whitechapel, before their performances at Reading and Leeds on the bank holiday weekend. Supported by Absentee , the band are playing at The Idea Store , a library/educational building a mere stroll away from Whitechapel tube. The event is on Friday 25th and cost a couple of quid, although you have to become a member to get tickets, which are only available from the info desk at the library. I got my tickets yesterday, apparently i got the first [...]

Why had i not discovered Tilly and the Wall sooner? I'm glad I finally have. A few weeks ago I heard "Lost Girls" for the first time and became enamored with Kianna Alarid's voice. The band's music reminds me a lot of Rilo Kiley's. It's definitely eclectic and hard to classify, which is how I like my music. Also seems like the type of stuff that after a few listens becomes quite infectious. Tilly and the Wall are an Ohama group partly born from Conor Oberst project, Park Avenue. The band [...]

Random Mix Thursday! That sounds pretty terrible I think, as I will never do anything like that again. Not so much a mix though, but rather a lot of songs that i've been listening to the past few weeks. Every so often I'll hear a song somewhere and i'll end up having it play continuously throughout the day. It's kinda terrible as I'd end up listening to one song upwards of 15-20 times, in hopes i'll get sick of it and move on to something else. A lot of the bands [...]
Well, it's been mighty long since I posted anything here. I did get married, go on a honeymoon and find out that I'm having a little girl, so I think I can be excused. I would also, in the interest of keeping this blog active, like to broaden the topics we cover here. Look for music and more politics, as well as all sorts of other items like urban planning, food, technology and whoknows. In terms of music, Tilly and the Wall have been bringing me the smiles lately. They have an exuberant, pop-centric thing happening [...]
mmmm....sleep. Well, I am happy to report that we made it a full 24 hours - technically 27 hours - with lots of posts! And a few new pledges too. As of right now, we have well over $200 pledged. (I believe you can still pledge for the blog and you can still make pledges for the next 48 hours after the Blogathon is over.) Anyway, this is a thank you post. A big thanks not only to the readers

Sometimes it seems like I can never say 'no' to going to a show, but, tonight, I did not go see Tilly and The Wall with Now It's Overhead at the Creepy Crawl . Now, the problem is, I didn't even tell you about it. And that's because I just realized they were playing today. I have failed you and I apologize. I am sure it would have been a good show, but I was just too busy. They have a tap-dancer, for God's sake. Right up my alley. [...]
So, I've been putting this off. Mainly because I'm kind of over lists right now and they're completely meaningless. If you read MOKB regularly, you know what I like, so why is it so important to rank them? Because that's what bloggers do. We rank and analyze and report, then you tell us how stupid we are. I love that part actually. Anyway, I know I have access. More than most, so I might have heard things you haven't or that aren't out yet, I apologize if it bothers you that I [...]
