If Sadbastardville were a real place, Tim Kasher would be its poet laureate. This is not meant to be derisive, because we’ve all been there.… [ Read more ] [ Subscribe to the comments on this story ]

Tim Kasher , frontman for Cursive , is on tour pushing his EP, Bigamy: More Sons From The Monogamy Sessions . He's making a stop at The Jackpot tonight in Lawrence. Bigamy is a spinoff of his debut album, The Game Of Monogamy , which was released last year. Bigamy was written mostly during Kasher's tour for The Game Of Monogamy . It tells stories of "mixed emotions, heartbreak, and adulthood restlessness, the songs range sonically from the slow-burning opener 'No Harmony' to the syncopated pop of 'A Bluer [...]

When the headlining act starts the night by saying, “Let’s start the night with something self-deprecating”, it’s a toss up as to how the night, and song, will go. Songwriters are known to be a little (okay, a lot) self-deprecating, hell, most writers are. Tim Kasher , of Cursive, delivered with his opening song, it was the first promise of the night and he honored his word. This song, like the others performed throughout his set, held lines I would be highly doubtful of if the singer fails to be, or at least give off the [...]

Date Tuesday, September 6th Location Mohawk Doors 900p Tickets $12 from Frontgate It's quite possible that you've forgotten Tim Kasher , as Cursive seems to have slowed things down, but Tim's been doing his own thing for quite some time, wether under his given name or The Good Life . He's [...]
As I write this, I'm on my way down to Florida to visit family over Labor Day weekend, so for once you're all going to have to do without my pedantic analysis and oddball observations. Let's suffice it to say that that on Monday night, a slightly tipsy Tim Kasher played a loose and relatively spontaneous at the Earl to a small but appreciative audience. While he managed to throw in a Cursive/The Good Life surprise or two, Kasher mostly stuck to material from his solo debut, The Game of Monogamy , [...]

Frontman for both Cursive and The Good Life, Tim Kasher, will be headlining the Hi-Tone Saturday night alongside Albany, New York's Aficionado and locals The Warm Atlantic. Kasher's out with his latest record, Bigamy: More Songs From The Monogamy Sessions , which is only available at the shows, his label Saddle Creek's web store, and digitally. Bigamy... was written during the same period his debut solo record, The Game Of Monogamy , was written. That record came out last October, but many of the sentiments are the same on the new release. Kasher's website [...]

THIS WEEK'S BEST BET: Tim Kasher w/ Aficionado, Trapper's Cabin Monday, August 29 The Earl - 488 Flat Shoals Avenue in Atlanta 30316 Admission $12 / Purchase Tickets The difficulty with being Tim Kasher in 2011 is that people have you pegged. Everybody knows what to expect. Whether it's jilted lovers, couples trapped in dysfunctional relationships, or pick your poison of whatever suburban romantic malaise you desire, Kasher's central characters are always sardonic and jaded: bitter cynics who are doomed to [...]

photo credit: Daniel Muller Well Greenville, we have a rare treat this evening. Tim Kasher , the man behind Cursive and The Good Life , is coming to town in support of his new EP, Bigamy: More Songs from the Monogamy Sessions . Like its predecessor, The Game of Monogamy , Bigamy deals with the restlessness of adulthood. Broken relationships, reconsideration, and regrets are themes that dominate the album, which is a step away [...]

Tim Kasher of Cursive played Double Happiness this past Saturday! I was totally unaware of this new venue in the Brewery District until finding out about this show. Turns out it's been open a couple months and Bright Eyes had their after party here for their opening night party. Once inside I realized I had patronized this venue a few times when it was a Lotus Bar. Anyway, 482 S. Front St. is now a music venue now and I hope they continue having class acts! Please excuse my one position photo spot. Being such a [...]
