Tin Cup Prophette is Amanda Kapousouz and she is from Athens, Georgia. Her sound consists mainly of minimalistic looping of her violin accompanied by other interesting instruments. When I read her bio and description of her music, I became almost too excited to listen to the album hoping that she might be the female equivalent of Andrew Bird or Final Fantasy. "Going Numb" Tin Cup Prophette I think the picture above does more to illustrate the interesting interplay of folk/trad sounds and modern arrangements in Tin Cup Prophette's music than it does to illustrate the actual instruments featured. She's got a nose ring and she's playing an accordion. From what I've noticed there's not a whole lot of accordion going on in her debut album, "Liar and the Thief, " but there is a great vibe of new and old on the disc.
