The upstart Desert Daze festival, offering a Mojave-perfect lineup headed up by Tinariwen , Warpaint , Fool's Gold , Chelsea Wolfe and the Entrance Band , has announced set times for Saturday's event. The festival, mounted by the same folks behind the psych-rock-friendly Moon Block Party events, is being held at the 160-acre Sunset Ranch Oasis in Mecca, about 25 minutes southeast of Indio.  General admission is $35 .

The good folks who put on the annual Moon Block Party in Pomona, CA are once again hosting Desert Daze —a psych fest out in the desert, where shit gets real trippy. The festival happens around the same time as Coachella, and is meant as a much more affordable way to see some killer bands under the Southern California sun without all the hassle. This year's Desert Daze Music + Art Festival will feature exclusive Southern California performances by Tinariwen, Warpaint and Chelsea Wolfe on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Sunset Ranch, a beautiful desert oasis set against a backdrop of purple mountains and miles of palm trees in the picturesque town of Mecca, CA (about 25 minutes SE of Indio near the Salton Sea). Other acts on the bill will include The Entrance Band, Night Beats, Lumerians, Dahga Bloom, JJUUJJUU and more to be announced.

Desert Daze , a by-the-bootstraps festival that debuted over 11 days last year in Desert Hot Springs, today announced a hallucination-inducing lineup headed up by Saharan rockers Tinariwen and L.A.'s Warpaint . We've been saddened to read about the recent political upheavals in the northeast of Mali, a country that's known more than its fair share of political turmoil over the years. Clearly writing about the intricacies of Malian politics is beyond the remit of music journalism, but suffice it to say that we've been particularly sad to hear that the Islamist rebels who've assumed control of much of the country's northeast have sought to prevent the region's musicians from playing — there are few countries with a richer musical tradition than Mali, and as such, it seems like a good time [...]

If you've been paying attention the news recently, you've no doubt heard about Mali, the West African nation home of the fabled Timbuktu, which has been overrun by Al Qaeda. As in other fundamentalist Islamic controlled areas, Al Qaeda is waging a war on the populace of Mali, including barbaric public amputations of hands and feet for theft, as well as a culture war, with all music outlawed, save for Quranic chants. Mali has a rich musical history. Its geographical and historical positioning has placed it at the cultural crossroads [...]

Austin Psych Fest has revealed its preliminary lineup for 2013 and notable acts include Deerhunter, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Warpaint The Black Angels, Tinariwen, Clinic, The King Khan & BBQ Show, DIIV, Boris, White Fence, Acid Mothers Temple, Black Mountain, Man or Astroman?, and Spectrum.
