In an effort to shine a light on the unknown artists and songs that pass through the mailbox of a music blogger, this semi-regular series will pick the artists most deserving of attention from nialler9 readers. Au - 'Are Animals' You may have heard of Au , an experimental pop band from Portland. This song sounds a little like Animal Collective I'll admit, but do AC have a 20-strong vocal chorus? No? Well Au do, I shit you not. This is from their album [...]
Tuesday, August 26, 2008 Before you get on with checking out this week's second EP I want you to jump over to Austin Sound to read a story on the Boxing Lesson's drummer, Jake Mitchell. I think it may be one of the more stranger and upsetting things I've heard of in 2008. Here's another five tunes. Enjoy. : Locke - High Five : Throughout the time that SOTO has been up I've definitely had a penchant for sharing tracks that cover the more light-hearted [...]
You know sometimes when you don't see someone for a long time and then you do and you're like, 'damn their awesome', Friday was sort of like that. Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears played to a packed house at the Parish. It had been a while since I had seen them play- still [...]
***On a side note- we will probably never post 'real' record reviews here, so if you are looking to find an opinion you can't form on your own, it ain't here, but we may post something like 'this shit is the new jack swing, go check it out, its 8 motherfuckin' stars and a pack [...]

Core Black Moth Super Rainbow Member Tobacco follows up his acclaimed DVD with a solo record on former leftfield hip-hop haven turned instrumental refuge Anticon. Though going it alone, Tobacco manages to take most of the key elements that make up BMSR's sound with him; dusty beats, huge 70's synths and vocodered vocals still reign supreme here. This comes as no disappointment for me however since those are precisely the elements I love about the collective's sound. The only apparent change to the concoction comes in the form of an Aesop Rock guest spot on "Dirt". Said cameo sticks out [...]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =TCjn-A-Hxfg I'm a sucker for any aesthetic that veers towards on the psychedelic and druggy, so it's no surprise how much I'm digging Tobacco's new Fucked Up Friends record dropping in October on Anticon, who have gone from ashy to still ashy but classy in my book following recent releases from Why? and Dosh. Add that to the record's Aesop Rock cameo and I'm reasonably certain I constitute the entirety of its target audience. Thanks. The quasi-front-man for Pittsburgh weirdos Black Moth Super Rainbow, whose Dandelion Gum [...]
On October 14th Tobacco, the one behind the crazy good beats of Black Moth Super Rainbow, will release his solo effort F***ed Up Friends on Anticon . As can be expected this album is full of psychedelic analog synth instrumentals that can ease you on down whatever road your on. As a special treat for you we have a humdinger of a track for you off it along with a video (after the jump) that can only be seen, never described. mp3: Tobacco - Truck Sweat [...]

UYARIYORUM; birazdan tanıtacağım grup bağımlılık yaratacağı için artık başka müzik dinlemeye fırsat bulamayabilirsiniz.. Şu an nasıl panikliyim anlatamam. Elemanlarından Tobacco 'nun yeni çıkacak albümü Fucked Up Friends 'in bugün yayınlanan ilk şarkısı Truck Sweat sayesinde tanıştım bu grupla. Lan ne güzelmiş kimdir nedir derken gerisi geldi.. Aşağıya da onu koydum. Grup birçok şarkısını şu [...]
Black Moth Super Rainbow's Tobacco has an album called Fucked Up Friends coming up on Anticon (he did a cut with label-mate Aesop Rock not too long ago), and "Truck Sweat" suggests it'll be more of the spaced-out lo-fi psychedelia we've come to expect. In addition to the warbly low-end grind that suggests a wobbly shroomed-out stroll the forest, the track also has a swoop of synth strings to brighten the mood. This is what it sounds like when trucks [...]

On last year's None Shall Pass tour, Aesop tabbed Pittsburgh psych weirdos Black Moth Super Rainbow to open for him. It was an inspired move and one that I recommend more rappers do, lest I get stuck standing stupidly watching a bunch of mush-mouthed Myspace MC's clinging to arbitrary 20th Century notions of what constitutes "underground rap." (And why are you kids still wasting your night handing CD's outside the show? Haven't you heard of the Internet? ) Superficially, the pairing of Black Moth Super Rainbow front-man, Tobacco would make for a weird mix. They're hippie-freaks [...]

In a bid to save my vinyl from physical assault by a stylus as old and wonky as a rusty nail I've avoided using my record decks for months now. Thankfully I'm now 50 quid lighter but in possession of two pristine needles, and a one huge backlog of lovely plastic to indulge in. (I realise I have posted at length about waving goodbye to analogue for ever... I lied). First up direct from Finland the wonderfully named Mighty Mo & The Winchester Seven turn out a phenomenally good deep funk cover of Melle Mel's " The Message [...]
