A classic album is updated live by Todd Rundgren.
Disco man Todd Terje is about the release his new EP via (Olsen/Smalltown Supersound) - we'll concede we don't know much about the Norwegian producer, apart from the odd track. To be brutally honest we thought it was something to do with that douche Toddla T. But thankfully the only thing they share is the syllable Tod. Upon checking wikipedia for a catchup on all things Terje we found that he's not even mentioned on it. The only thing we did find was a myspace page - so all we really know is he's old-school - and this [...]

Homoelectric returns to Manchester next week after London jaunts, with Rory Phillips and Horse Meat Disco 's Severino on the bill. Rory Phillips ' remix of 80s San Francisco band The Units was one of the finest moments of the indie/dance crossover years that now seem so long ago. Released in an extremely-limited run on Berlin's Keinerechte as "D.B. - Limit". Stunning. James Blake - Limit To Your Love (Daniel Bortz Edit) / BUY picture: you're my only hope

Since stepping out from under the umbrella of Hot Chip , Joe Goddard has released material individually and as one of The 2 Bears . To date, I've found his solo work difficult to place. The 2 Bears ' stuff, on the other hand, has slotted right in, somewhere between house and proper pop. A track from his new EP, Gabriel , has found the same place. Dance music royalty Greg Wilson is in the process of giving away edits on his soundcloud . I think he's adding a new one each week, usually in wav format. This edit, an extension of an early 70s disco hit, stood out to me. It originally appeared on GW's Ruff Edits #4 release. An interesting story lies with the original, too. Read more... Ghostl y International , the host label for Mark E 's Stone Breaker album earlier this year, have distributed Jacques Renault 's edit of Oranges , seen by many as the standout track from the record. While retaining the essence of the original percussive lines, the rest is stripped away to expose moody harmonies and fresh cowbell. Mark E - Oranges (Jacques Renault Edit) / WAV image: ninthwheel / chirply

'Closer ' was a 1992 release from Larry Heard, under his oft-used Mr. Fingers pseudonym. My pick is the " Dude Mix " from Frankie Foncett , a prolific producer who also remixed Eternal and later added an "e" to his last name. Apparently, he's a Spurs fan. James & I are spilling it at Joshua Brooks tonight. To save everyone some time, the toilets are in the corner through the double doors, I'm not sure how much it is to get in downstairs and we don't have any dubstep remixes of Adele. We do have this though. Cymande - Getting It Back (Loose Lips Edit) / BUY pic from moscowandberlin

Words // Todd Harrington Just recently I was able to conduct a short interview with musician Joe Lally. Lally, known largely as the bass player for the legendary band Fugazi is gearing up for a short tour of the US. Lally will be touring in support of his third solo album Why Should I Get Used to It . Joe was gracious to talk with us about how the album came together, his former band, collaborations as [...]

Words // Todd Harrington Walking down the alley towards the historic Orpheum Theater had me feeling a bit worried. How would this post rock band from Texas handle the theater crowd? Blending some of the quietest to suddenly loudest music your mind, ear and soul can bear it was actually the audience I was worried about. Would they clap at the wrong time? Would the calmness of a moment result in the random yelps from the audience? [...]

Words // Todd Harrington The weather may have been a little threatening most of the first day of the Life is Good Festival but it held out. The festival made its return to Prowse Farm in the shadows of Blue Hills in Canton,MA for a second year and the fans came out in droves. The festival grounds are spread out well enough were the two larger stages almost face one another, but the music would be on pace so once one set ended you could turn, walk a few hundred yards and check out [...]
Zoo Look are a deep disco team consisting of a trio of Bournemouth's pestering, untamed locals. After hosting some tasty looking parties at the wonderfully named 60 Million Postcards pub, ZL released ' Holdin' On ', a blissfully crisp, Balearic simmerer, on Tenth Circle . Take time to check out ' Stab Game ', a recent release on Tusk Wax . Supoyb sounds. Zoo Look - Holdin' On - BUY pic courtesy of sophie van der [...]

Todd Edwards needs no introduction. The man is an electronic music legend, having earn't the title of "the godfather of UK garage" as well as contributing the vocals on Daft Punk's track "Face to Face". His innovative approach to his production work, by creating a set of small samples from different songs to make a complete melody, has kept Todd a staple in my sets and ensured that even now he is still ahead of his time and more relevant than ever. PBJ: Your considered a legend in the UK [...]

By Todd Harrington "This is not the Vans Warped Tour" singer Andy Hull called from the stage early in to Manchester Orchestras fourteen song set. Over zealous fans towards the front decided pogo dancing needed to roll in to a little more of a "mosh pit" during "Shake it Out". Hull didn't stop the show, but made his point clear and the audience were then treated to a powerful set of music pulling from each of the bands three full length records. The five piece made seemingly quick work of the songs, keeping banter [...]

By Todd Harrington Listening to a band for the first time can be as scary as it can be fun. Then, factor in a "review" of the record and it gets even more fun. The good news for Canadian based six piece band Hey Rosetta! is they hit the wow (and repeat) button right out of the gate. On the bands 11 song, third full length release they blend the instruments you expect in a rock band but then toss in piano, strings and other percussive instruments [...]
