Late last night, TOKiMONSTA delivered on her promise of a new Jodeci remix with this synth-infused, sometimes-crunchy take on "Freek'N You". Fans of the R&B group are sure to adore this, if only because it gives them all another reason to put this joint on full blast. A Locomotive across the great white north is certainly not how I expected an Electronic tour to go, but, well, here we are. The Fullflex Express Canada Tour is bringing Skrillex, Diplo, Grimes, Tokimonsta, Koan Sound and Pretty Lights on a cross-country tour that will ship the artists on, you guessed it, their own private party train. The words "Tokimonsta" and "Remix" are in the title of this post, do you need any more convincing that this track is worth at least a few listens? If her previous track record is indicative of anything, Toki's rework of Eight and a Half's "Scissors" is no different. The track is a few months old, but Toki just loaded it to her Soundcloud, available for our streaming pleasure. Perfect cool summer evening music right here.

TOKiMONSTA (LA dj and producer Jennifer Lee) just dropped this woozy new freebie on her SoundCloud. Her intricately textured, jazz-flecked sound is characteristic of her label, Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder. But she's a rarity; here aren't a lot of well-known female djs. TOKiMONSTA's music is imbued with femininity, but in a pleasingly sharp and sophisticated manner. Think 'glistening' rather than 'glittering,' or 'lush' rather than 'soft.' She weaves golden fabrics patterned with cross-hatching, but the edges cut like a serrated knife. The bass line is a graceful compilation of what could be petite water-tank gurgles. TOKiMONSTA teased us last year with one of her strongest works to date, Creature Dreams EP. I say tease because, well, it was pretty damn short. And I know I'm not the only one that expects this incredibly talented producer to drop a full-length within the year. Out of nowhere, though, comes "Fame Boozers Lullaby", which features a magical synergy between the lush soundscapes of TOKiMONSTA and floating vocals of Rucyl. Really nice track that TOKiMONSTA made a while back with vocalist Rucyl that they both 'decided that this track would be great to share', and you can even download it here . Was talking to J about Toki a few weeks back after she dropped the Darkest Dim video and we both agree she's on that classic Nujabes vibe.
