We've got a few videos from Tom Vek for you. "World of Doubt" is above and "A Chore" is below. His new album Leisure Seizure is out digitally on July 7th, and if these videos are any indication, it's sure to be a good one.
After last week's bonanza of good-to-great releases, this week is far more subtle in it's charms. Both Junior Boys and Vetiver headline the action here, and their laid back approach to music make a perfect match to talk about. Elsewhere this week there's the latest Emmy the Great, Marissa Nadler, reissues from Paul McCartney and Sebadoh, along with a long lost recording from Neil Young. "Don't get upset. It’s not my time yet" was Tom Vek's words on his debut album We Have Sound . Six years later and it is obviously his time as Vek has released his second album Leisure Seizure , and he has by no means left fans disappointed. On the release of his first album, many were left baffled by the combination of indie guitars and electronic beats at the time when we were all loving The Libertines or Franz Ferdinand, but Vek seems to have found his time and along with cutting his hair and [...]
Deciding to go MIA when you’ve just made it big on the indie-music scene is like turning down a winning lottery ticket: it might make you more pure, but it sure won’t make you any richer. You can be certain that Tom Vek’s soul is squeaky clean, then, as he returns from his five year haitus with the debut of his second album “Leizure Seizure.” Most of his siesta has been spent creating this latest installment. Much of the record is essentially the musical equivalent of a glow stick. It soars with a pure neon energy [...]
I can't get this out of my head. Thanks a lot, Tug .
It's songs like these that make me forget that I watched films like 'A Serbian Film', and re-direct me towards better things...such as dancing. Tom Vek - We Do Nothing

Little lasts forever: an intergenerational, indefatigable belief in all things holy for many, an evening's opera for some. In a few short days of blurred memory every festival ends, and in a few months that seem equally brief, they're all done and dusted for another annum. The festival circuit is a circus, one berserk as fuck, and as with every circus it's lined with perilous swings and roundabouts, as "punters", pints, hopes and dreams swirl precariously amidst extortionate ethanol and commercialism-strewn pseudo-hedonism. Far from devoid of the devastating lunges of the wrecking ball of time, as resplendent [...]

In this edition: Checking back with the Pained Palms, Meet The Alternates, this week's considerations, and some videos... Check back with: Painted Palms Last year, Painted Palms released their debut EP, Canopy , via Bandcamp as a free download. Canopy was a Friday Free Feature back in December, and we've tried to stay on top of where they're headed. Since that time, the San Francisco-based duo signed to Secretly Canadian who will be releasing a [...]

I suppose you can only really hide for so long. And in a bid to try and lie to myself that everything is perfectly normal I guess I should blog. So in follow up to the previous long ago post here is the Tom Vek album, Leisure Seizure . As far as I'm aware it got leaked, but you can legitimately purchase it now, so you should probably do that. Tom Vek - Leisure Seizure (2011) by modularpeople

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, so goes the old adage. Sentiment grows. Love becomes lorn. But sometimes, you heal, you forget. Now, maybe that's a bit soppy for Tom Vek - a young man who, by all intents and purposes, gained cultish notoriety for a single album, We Have Sound - an album which cemented him as one of a rare breed of talented, electronically-enthused multi-instrumentalists. Bearing in mind its release came back in the yore of 2005, this was a feat that did not go unnoticed. But, as if reminiscent of our current musical factory climate, he [...]

Thanks to Sasquatch! Music Festival and other pressing issues, I missed last weeks crop of new releases, headlined by My Morning Jacket and Death Cab For Cutie ( and Robert Pollard, and Eddie Vedder on the ukelele, and Seapony, and...). For the past two days, I've been down with a fever, so this week's was in peril too, but I've switched my tea for coffee, propped myself up with some pillows and made a go of it. All because this is a great week for releases. Black Lips, Cults, Fucked Up, Tom Vek, Battles, Arctic [...]

Of all the possible comebacks, this was probably the most unthinkable. Missing in action since 2005’s debut We Have Sound, Tom Vek disappeared from the music scene, leaving no clues behind as to his whereabouts. Whilst his debut album was well received, it ... Continue reading

Tweet "You had believed one time And now you want more And what you perceive as life Is no more than a chore" How's this for a blast from the past. Remember Tom Vek? He of the absolutely brilliant debut record , 2005's We Have Sound has come out of his hibernation. He must have realised that he so far outpaced his contemporaries in one shot that he could afford to take a wee break before returning. [...]
