Here's another old college radio show I uploaded to MixCloud. From February 1989, this is the earliest surviving tape that I have. Unfortunately, I lost lost a lot of tapes when my car got broken into outside the old 9:30 Club in D.C. many years ago. This show features The Stump Wizards, Buzzcocks, Camper Van Beethoven, Half Japanese, The Chills, XTC, Elvis Costello, Iggy and the Stooges, The Divine Horsemen, Giant Sand, Chris McGregor, Tom Waits and others. WDCV 88.3, Dickinson College, February 1989, DJ Pete Bilderback [...]

Younger Tom by Henry Diltz Where did THIS come from? Seemingly out of nowhere, until I saw it mentioned by the Eyeball Kid .
I really wanted to hate this album, or at least feel indifferent enough to ignore it. I tried, really I did. I didn't even listen to the unrequested advance promo I received. When a second promo arrived from Jones' record ... Continue reading ’
British beat makers MOUNT KIMBIE finally release their second album "Cold Spring Fault Less Youth". A deeply impressing album The post Mount Kimbie - Cold Spring Fault Less Youth appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .
It has been a very weird, very long, and very frustrating week. It was marked with a couple refreshing, lovely moments, but other than that it's been long hours at work and even longer hours stuck in the dark recesses of my mind. I drank a lot, too. It didn't help. Hey, here's a new [...]

Can a band ever be too old to rock? Do musicians ever reach a point where they have to hang up their guitar and walk away? That's the focus of today's Rock it Out! Blog , as Sami ponders at what point an artist should call it quits. Is there a specific age all bands/singers should give up the limelight, or can they rock out into their twilight years as long as they've still got "it"? And does their motivation (e.g. paycheck vs. passion) ever play a deciding factor? Leave your comments down below. Make sure to follow Rock [...]
We spend our weeknights laying on our side, [...]

O primeiro avanço de The Weight Of Your Love é "A Ton Of Love", uma música que já tem direito a vÃdeo a preto e branco aqui [...]

The Rolling Stones y Tom [...]

From the opening week of the Stones tour, they invited Tom Waits to sing with them last night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland:
I'm not sure what, exactly, people are expecting when they shell out to see the Rolling Stones arena-tour extravaganza, but they probably aren't counting on appearances from voice-ravaged weirdo hero Tom Waits, even if he has recorded a bunch of stuff with Keith Richards over the years. Last night, however, Waits joined the Stones onstage at Oakland's Oracle Arena, beautifully growling his way through "Little Red Rooster," a blues standard most associated with Howlin' Wolf but covered by a bazillion others. The crowd, bless their hearts, appeared to recognize the man. Watch a fan-made video below. Read More... [...]

Tom Waits w/ The Rolling Stones (via Rolling Stones Facebook ) The Rolling Stones are currently on a North American tour which brought them to Oakland last night (5/5) for a show at Oracle Arena. They played a bunch of the usual favorites like "Tumbling Dice," "Get Off of My Cloud," "Miss You," "Jumpin' Jack Flash," and so on. But most excitingly, on their version of the blues staple "Little Red Rooster," they brought out another blues-lover, Tom Waits , to help them perform [...]
For fellow Tom Waits freaks, the pairing of Waits guesting on Bob Dylan’s Theme Time Radio Hour is something like manna. The following five tracks find Waits calling in to Dylan’s show, commenting on various subjects, reveling in the everyday bizarre. Fantastic. Listen/stream, HERE.

Or at least tangentially about food. And like all good lists this one goes, in alphabetical order, to 11. The Band - "Home Cookin'" from A Musical History. A 1976 outtake, this is Rick Danko near his vulnerable best. Carolyn Mark & the New Best Friends - "Yanksgiving" from The Pros and Cons of Collaboration. Cooking to this song is tons of fun, but also guaranteed to make you wish that you were at Carolyn Mark's party instead. Descendents - "Weinerschnitzel" from Fat [...]

Not much is left to say about Colin Stetson , but if you haven't gotten caught up yet, here's a brief rundown: Colin Stetson is a musician on a whole new level for musicians. He plays saxophone (and pretty much everything else with a reed) like a professional athlete, wrestling, pushing, and generally torturing his instrument, utilizing a technique called circular breathing to play for, sometimes, 15 goddamn minutes straight! Wikipedia has generously compiled a list of artists he's recorded and performed with, and it's even larger than I recalled: [...]
