I'm a firm believer that solo projects need to show something divergent from a musicians main band. Why bother with a solo project in the first place if everything is going to sound like just another band record? Tommy T is the bassist for Gogol Bordello. Come November 10th, he'll also officially be a solo artist. On that day, Ethiopian-born musician will unveil The Prester John Sessions , a collection of 11 tracks that blends "Ethiopian modes with dub reggae, funk, and jazz, for a sound that's at once familiar and mysterious." Basically, the album tells the story of a Christian patriarch named Prester John , who Tommy discovered in Graham Hancock's book The Sign and the Seal . I can't say that I am a Gogol Bordello fan. I don't dislike them. I just never listen to them. Their bassist Tommy T has branched out on his on, joining forces with Easy Star Records (who I AM a HUGE fan of).
