Hello Ha Ha Tonka , haven't I seen you hanging around? Here we have one of those bands you feel as though you've heard but, in reality, have never come across a single note. For me, at least, but we all have a few of them. I've seen tour ads and possibly the odd feature, from whence an image of some kind of indie-pop identity sprang forth in my mind. [...]
Missouri's Ha Ha Tonka may have a confounding name, but their can be no denying that this quartet has just about cornered the market on ramshackle Americana in 2011. Death Of A Decade is available now from Bloodshot, and it wouldn't be at all shocking to see it pop up on a couple year-end Best Of lists. Fans of the band will be pleased to learn that the boys have been given a coveted slot at this year's Austin City Limits Festival. And [...]
Not sure who PeterLicht is, wikipedia tells me he could be a little bit cheesy and that "Sonnendeck" song was his biggest hit to date. However, German producer Tonka has made a nice little bootleg of the track, full of nu-disco/italo goodness and he's giving it away on his soundcloud. Very cool, ideal for a Summer evening. The hook may get stuck into your head too... just warning you in advance. haha. Sonnendeck 2011 (Tonka Treatment) [ Download ] [...]
Solidly written, oft repetitive-chorused mountain songs point Ha Ha Tonka in a success-bound direction. "Usual Suspects" starts the album off on the wrong hoof, but if this nascent band from Southern Missouri follows the convention of memorable ballads like "Dead Man's Hands," they'll indeed escape the Ozarks alive. Usual Suspects – Ha Ha Tonka
Straight outta the Ozarks, Ha Ha Tonka has been around since their first album in 2002, but just hit my radar with their release of Death of a Decade in April. They'll also be on an upcoming episode of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (which my wife loves to fall asleep to). www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvRW8A PIsaQ

Off to Ha Ha Tonka for Vacation
The family and I head to Lake of the Ozarks each year and that time has come. Not too far from my parents' lake house is a Missouri State Park called Ha Ha Tonka, which inspired the name of the band Ha Ha Tonka. The fellas recently released a new video for "Usual Suspects." Seemed appropriate to share while I go offline for a bit. Warning for our younger readers: Don't drink booze on railroad tracks. There's very little upside. Ha Ha Tonka, "Usual Suspects" from Bloodshot Records [...]

Ha Ha Tonka: Usual Suspects and Tornado Relief
The boys of Ha Ha Tonka have been busy as usual, touring in support of their fine new album Death of a Decade , which was released in April. Check out their new video for "Usual Suspects." They toured through Boston a few weeks back, but shit happened and I missed the show. They are currently touring in their native Missouri, and other nearby states. Here's one of my favorites from their new album. Problem Solver.mp3 [...]

Ha Ha Tonka: Death of a Decade (Reviews)
Springfield, MO's favorite sons take a look at where they've been and where they're going on their mature, nuanced third record. A few facts about Springfield, Missouri's favorite sons Ha Ha Tonka. Despite their moniker, they're not a goofy barroom band, though they call Bloodshot home and can bring the rock when the situation demands it. They're really more of a singer-songwriter-y, folk-y, indie rock-with-a-mandolin band these days. Second, these guys really know how to give an album an evocative title ('07's Buckle in the Bible Belt, '09's Nove Sounds of the Nouveau South and now...
