LA Electronic artist KAUF put out and excellent remix of Tony Castles' Heart in the Pipes . He took the otherwise ordinary song to the next level with his dreamy looping synths and prodding drum beat in similar vein as Junior Boys or The Knife. KAUF has a couple of other songs to check out at his soundcloud and is finishing up work on his debut album due out sometime early next year. The remix is out as [...]
Not much is exposed on Kauf but he makes magical mixes in LA. Currently working on a full length album for 2012, Kauf also played with a track from Brooklyn's Tony Castles . His chillwave alterations gave "Heart In The Pipes" a utopian effect. It's a pleasurable trip. If you want more from Kauf, Lost in Records launched an hour-long mixtape from this man. It is free for you to download, so I suggest you get on that right away. Kauf's next performance is at La Cita on January 4th. Get connected with him [...]

Hype remix from L.A. based Kauf of Brooklyn's Tony Castles. Both of these acts are going to blow up in 2012. U HEARD IT HERE FIRST K. Tony Castles - Heart In The Pipes (Kauf Remix) Tony Castles - Heart In The Pipes Kauf - Relocate Kauf - When You're Out Amirite? posted by @tristanorchard

LA dreamwaver KAUF has remixed Brooklyn band Tony Castles . Having not heard much from either parties this was an unexpected joy for a Monday morning with drizzling layers and dubby drums applied to the original jam "Heart In The Pipes" . Its also got some incredibly strange occur-ers, with moments sounding like valium'd out coldplay-foals and others of 802s love-synth, a fun mixture. Tony Castles - Heart In The Pipes (KAUF Remix) by Kauf [...]

LA-based electro pop artist, Kauf has been on my radar since his first single 'Relocate' was released late last Winter. Though he has been pretty quietly working on a full-length album since the April release of his second single 'When You're Out,' Kauf just reappeared with a stellar remix of Brooklyn dream pop trio Tony Castles' 'Heart In The Pipes.' No word yet on when we can expect the full length but it's definitely something to look forward to! 'Heart In The Pipes' (Kauf Remix) - Tony Castles 'When You're Out' - [...]

Replete with the big bass line that yanks me in every time, Kauf's latest sees none of the stylistic departures I'd been afraid of. Anyone with any awareness of "When You're Out", or the thriller "Relocate", will immediately recognize Kauf's playfully foreboding undertones, and the methodical pounding of those dungeon drums, on his new remix [...]

Anyone with any awareness of "When You're Out" , or the thriller "Relocate" , will immediately recognize Kauf 's playfully foreboding undertones, and the methodical pounding of those dungeon drums, on his new remix of the Tony Castles track, "Heart in the Pipes". It's exactly what we where hoping for from Kauf, whose stylistic identity is reinforced with every dark, new chapter, and I can't wait to hear the [...]

Young Buffalo (@youngbuffalo) started the night with a rousing set of power pop tunes. Delivering a collection of songs almost in the style of Brian Jonestown Massacre's standout album, Take It From the Man , they drew from past psychedelic rock 'n' roll and contemporary indie rock influences. They energetically banged out both older tracks and new songs from their recently released EP, Baby Demons , such as standout single "Catapilah", a driving indie rock tune with soaring harmonies and psychedelic reverb on the vocals and guitar. Their live performances are well worth seeing and [...]

It's been a busy few weeks out here in the upper left-hand corner of the United States. The singles have been coming in at a relentless pace. It was a long holiday weekend, so what better thing to do than to get caught up on listening to them. Here's the low-down on the batch that were burning up my turntable this weekend. Persian Rugs - Always All ( Cloudberry ) Toronto's Persian Rugs make up one of two singles [...]

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. These are just a few of the songs that would get there own individual posts on here on GIMME TINNITUS, if I only had the time. You can stream all the songs in this mix using the Yahoo media player at the bottom of the page OR if you are browsing with Chrome you can play (and scrobble ) the whole page using the ex.fm extension OR [...]
I've been hearing a lot about the new site turntable.fm over the past couple of weeks, but it wasn't until yesterday that I actually spent some time trying it out. (It's in beta, so if you go there, you'll only be able to get in if you know someone who is already a part of...
Friday, June 24, 2011 Today's Quick Mention: Plenty to see this weekend. Tonight you'll find the Rosebuds and Other Lives at the Parish, and Dark Water Hymnal and the Calm Blue Sea at the Mohawk. Tomorrow Quin Galavis has a CD release show at Beerland, and Alela Diane is playing the inside of Stubb's. With all of that I'd advise napping on Sunday, but it may also be a good idea to see Eastern Conference Champions at Emo's. Let's close this silly week. Enjoy. [...]

Tony Castles puts you in an open room. Slowly that room begins to fill with loose combinations of guitar melodies, bright yet distant, with barely-there percussion and vocals that sound like a long-distance phone call. At least, that's the sound you get when you listen to "Juice," the latest from the Brooklyn band that has only been playing together for roughly a year. Joined by the equally dreamy "Hearts In The Pipes" to make a 7" record, "Juice" eases you into daydreams that only break when the guitars do. Stream it above and also hear "Hearts In The Pipes" [...]
Previous tracks, from Tony Castles' five-song No Source EP, have leavened the Brooklyn band's natural, lazing sweetness with fuzz and whimsy , or barking guitars . But this new one dispenses with all that scruff to deliver a dewy-eyed core. This is a good thing, because Tony Castles do dewy well. There's a lagging ease to the guitar and vocals of "Heart In The Pipes" that recalls Galaxie 500 a la Real Estate, or "Albatross"-era Fleetwood Mac ala Lake; it's the sort of lagging ease that paints bittersweet lyrics well. It's a walk through a house, [...]

It was a good week for the Brooklyn label stalwart Famous Class, who dropped two 7-inches this week. Snakes Say Hiss continue their reign over all that's electro-pop surface and shine, and if you've been to a show of theirs in Brooklyn, you might better understand their devotion to such a scrubbed-down regiment: a lot of cute girls fucking love this band. Also, if ever you're in remedial Party Band class, this is what they'll be blasting on your first exam: Snakes Say Hiss, &qu...
