Tony Lucca The search for the greatest voices in America returned as NBC's hit reality singing competition, The Voice , premiered its second season after the Super Bowl. Coaches Christina Aguilera , Blake Shelton , Cee-Lo Green and Adam Levine have their work cut out for them as they'll have to sift through even more talent to fill the newly expanded slots on their teams (each team will now consist of 12 members-up from last season's 8). To find their team members, they'll have to pick out talented [...]

Compelling collection of pop covers The 1990s edition of the Mickey Mouse Club was a surprising hotbed of soon-to-be-successful young artists. In addition to better-known alumni Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, the Club was home to a dozen more actors and singers whose stars may not have risen to international fame, but whose work is worth looking up. Among those making a living with their music is Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Tony Lucca. No longer the boy singer (that's him in the middle, next to girlfriend Keri Russell), or the [...]

First things first about Friday Night Lights - it's not a show about football. It's about as much about football as The Office is about a business, as much as Lost was about an island, as much as this post is about music. It's a show about family and community and the resilience of the American spirit by way of a small town that clings to the world of football. It's a show about the human experience, and the truth is, it's a show for anyone who's ever felt anything in their lives, and its final episode aired on NBC [...]
TONY LUCCA, JAY NASH AND MATT DUKE: THEY DID IT BEFORE AND THEY ARE "TOTALLY F*CKIN' DOIN' IT" AGAIN Tour Kicks Off In Mid-November Apparently they couldn't get enough of the "bromance" that began last year on their first annual "Totally F*ckin' Doin' It" Tour, because Tony Lucca, Jay Nash and Matt Duke are doing it all over again – one year later. To celebrate that anniversary, this year's 2.0 outing kicks off on November 11th at SPACE in Evanston, IL, and the three music compadres plan to criss-cross the Northeast, the Mid-Atlantic, the South [...]

If you are in the mood for some poppy, folky stuff check out the new album from Tony Lucca. His voice is the highlight and I find it very relaxing. So far I have not heard any standout songs that are as good as "Pretty Things" (which you can download for FREE on his website , yay!) but I still have a few more songs to listen to. The album is rather low key but the poppy fun songs are "Long Love Letter" and "Make You Mine". His cover of Billy Joel's "Vienna" is good, I like hearing [...]
To celebrate today's crop of releases, here are new mp3s from Admiral Radley, Chatham County Line, Hey Champ, the Innocence Mission, the Love Language, Tony Lucca, Miss TK & The Revenge and School Of Seven Bell. Also, vote for your favorite of today's new releases.
Tony Lucca is another gifted singer/songwriter (and former Mouseketeer) who has begun to break through by getting his music on TV shows. So far he has been on such shows as Felicity, Brothers & Sisters, and, my personal favorite, Friday Night Lights (covering Daniel Johnston's Devil Town). He has collaborated with Sara Bareilles, and you can hear him singing with her on the single I'm On Fire,

"When I first started out, I didn't know what style I was," says Matt Duke , a South Jersey-born, Philly-based, 24-year-old singer-songwriter. "I still don't and probably never will." Matt stands out in an industry that loves to categorize. His second full-length album and first for Ryko, 'Kingdom Underground' , came out in 2008 and rocked a fairly big sound. However, Matt tours primarily as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter, so his fans have come to expect a slightly quieter fare from him, which is how the 'Acoustic Kingdom Underground' EP came about. Tony Lucca: Death of Me [ purchase ] Tony Lucca was always the quiet one: this has made for a softer, more intimate approach to music than most of his peers, and resulted in a solo musical career best characterized as relatively mellow, bluesy, and totally anonymous. So although he cut his adult teeth as a post-Mouseketeers musician opening for *NSync and Marc Anthony in the late nineties, it's no surprise to find that he's moved on to opening for the likes of Sara [...]

The original MOKB Covers Project post of Hallelujah has been dead for many moons, but it is still one of the most commented on, linked up and talked about posts we've put together here at MOKB. I've promised many a reader that I would one day re-host all the files for everyone to enjoy. We revisited the song and found a plethora of new versions since last we posted it. There are even more we saw but couldn't find. As always , if you have a [...]
Tony Lucca's sound is somewhere in between Ray LaMontagne and Gavin DeGraw, with the periodic nod to James Taylor. Canyon Songs was written and recorded almost entirely in the canyons of Hollywood... **Click on the link to read the full post, download mp3s, and comment.**
Valgeir Sigurðsson – Evolution of Waters (featuring Bonnie 'Prince' Billy) Who says file sharing is bad? Without my favorite little private torrent site, OiNK, I never would have come across Valgeir. He made his name producing some amazing artists you may have heard of. (Think the guy featured in this song and some woman named Björk ) I love the fact that Will Oldham is constantly diversifying the artists/producers he works with. I've never [...]

Ever since the HearYa Live Session with Cracklin Moth , I've been dying to watch The Devil and Daniel Johnston , a documentary chronicling the life of the prolific, profoundly disturbed singer-songwriter. Cracklin Moth's Rocco Labriola strongly recommended the film, and the band even went so far as to do a badass cover of Johnston's "Walking the Cow" during their Live Session , which can be found here . I finally had a chance to watch The Devil and Daniel Johnston the other night with my girlfriend, who sat [...]

"I'm walking down that empty road/ But it ain't empty now/Because I'm on it" Daniel Johnston is the type of artist who needs covers. He has a bizarre, grating, child-like voice that takes a while to warm to and a short time to grow tired of. He can barely play guitar, and his best music was recorded in his garage using tape decks. Despite this, Johnston is unquestionably one of the most talented and influential songwriters to ever live. Ex-girlfriend (sort of) Kathy McCarty explains her [...]
