Talk about perfect summertime music. Hydra Head label-mates Harvey Milk and Torche have just announced a tour of the east coast starting mid-July and ending in August. Just imagine: warm weather, a pretty girl (or guy) on your arm, maybe a cool beer in your hand, and some of the heaviest rock & roll music you can ever hope to hear. Perfect. In other Harvey Milk news, their last (awesome) album,
The songs of London trio Invasion might be short, but they definitely ain't sweet - wizard robes and monster riffs, delivered in sub-two minute psyche-rock nuggets. We put guitarist, Marek Steven, through the Future Hits treatment. How did you meet? Myself and our drummer Zel were already playing some of the same tunes together with a different singer from early 2006. She was good singer but 'difficult', and when she moved to New York we played a couple of instrumental shows to see what [...]

It's that time again! Mind Inversion is back with our monthly playlist and this month we're keeping it simple. After doing an influences themed list last month, for April we've all simply contributed some songs that each of us has been loving enough to keep on repeat lately. This mix should give you all something fresh to start your Spring off right. Listen in, and if you enjoy, please seek out more information on these artists; as always, we're covering all the bases, and we guarantee high quality on these tracks. The photo above was taken [...]
by theseseans (NYC)Tomorrow I'm off to Texas for four days, all y'all staying in the city have a few killer shows to check. If I wasn't going to Texas I would (without a fucking doubt) go see Landmine Marathon this Friday at The Charleston with Mutant Supremacy. After the incredible show they put on Monday I will make a point to see them whenever I get the chance.Landmine Marathon - Live at Lit
I seem to be reaching the end of my metal listening hiatus, which has lasted a surprising 3 or 4 months. While the general "metalness" of Torche could probably be debated, they lie at least on the heavier end of whatever spectrum you're using. It's probably best for me to stick with posting music in this range anyway, because I doubt the 5 people that read this are deeply invested in the arms race of extreme-ness that metal conversations inevitably polarize to. If there were an extreme this song approaches, it wouldn't be aggression or really [...]

Every so often, the entertainment opportunities in this city really put you into some tough spots, and the choices I had to make last Friday (April 10, 2009) were some of the hardest I've had to make in a while. Throughout the week I wrestled between going to one of several shows on 4/10, and in the end I decided to attend the return to the Twin Cities for the progressive rockers in Dredg at the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown featuring highly acclaimed support from the likes of Torche and From Monument to Masses [...]

Isis is back. In only a few weeks, their new album Wavering Radiant will be officially unveiled, and this guy couldn't be happier! Really, when it rains it pours; within a short 24 hour period I'm getting my ears on the first tastes of music from new Converge AND Isis - I think my head [...]

Sonisphere Festival announced via their Twitter that there will be a "New band announcement 9am Monday for Sonisphere UK". We're announcing via our stupid fingers that this band will be Nine Inch Nails. Will Jane's Addiction be turning up as well? Let's wait and see. Trent and JA are very, very good friends, after all. Other bands heavily tipped to be announced for the Knebworth event on 01 & 02 August 2009 are Torche , Rolo Tomassi and Clutch. We have a Twitter account as [...]
That I'm sitting here in the MetalSucks Mansion this snowy Monday morning has gotta be some kinda heavy metal miracle; as I type this, Anton OyVey, Rob Pasbani from Metal Injection, our friends from BITPOM.com, and a lot of other fine friends are still stranded in Atlanta due to the weather. And honestly, there are worse [...]

Coming off one of 2008's best albums and a fistfight-inspired lineup change, ultra-melodic stoner-metal renovators TORCHE are back on the road with indie-prog vets DREDG tagging along. There's still no new guitarist listed on Torche's social networking page, but whether you already know how awesome this band is or have been meaning to check them [...]
