This will probably be our last new releases listing for the year. Though there are a few stragglers in the coming weeks, such as The Internet on December 20 and Kelly Clarkson 's iTunes Sessions on the 27th, neither of those weeks sport much more than that. However, this week proves to be somewhat interesting, even if it may be relatively sparse. Tori Amos re-releases her most recent album as instrumentals with the appropriate title Sin Palabras , Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa collaborate on [...]

Tori Amos is not done with her bout of love for classical music. The lovely warbler is going to release Sin Palabras , an instrumental and raw version of her previous album Night of Hunters. This is all cute and everything, but we are done with the classical era of Tori Amos's career and are looking forward to some rock loving. The album will be released on December 13th on Deutsche Grammophon. Filed under: Beats , Yankee Panky Tagged: music , new , sin palabras , tori amos

Not sure how interested we are in the instrumental version ( Sin Palabras ) of her fantastic Night of the Hunters album, but Tori Amos is releasing it on Deutsche Grammophon. Those guys don't just press out any songstress with emotive piano chops; this is the real deal as The Apollon Musagete Quartet and the Berlin Philharmonic clarinet soloist Andreas Ottensamer expand the original album arrangements. While you wait until December 13 for the record to drop, be sure to check out Ms. Amos on a quick North American "coastal+Texas" tour before the end of 2011. [...]

Whether you are a long-time local fan of Tori Amos who may have been lucky to see an early performance of hers at a DC piano bar back in the eighties, or someone who was only recently introduced to her music, it's a delight for all of the above that Tori Amos will be returning to her childhood stomping grounds this Monday with a performance at DAR Constitutional Hall. Now in her late forties, Amos has quite the impressive resume with eight Grammy nominations and was named one of [...]

Nearly 20 years into the career and North Carolina-born classical experimentalist Tori Amos' Night Of Hunters is her twelfth full-length album. She has been acknowledged, in the past, for her eerie electronica and minimal baroque pop, but this time it's a tad different. This new image is wholly encircled around her classical inspirations; Debussy, Shubert, Schumann, Satie and Mussorgsky, and it's from these classical masters where Amos fuses their recognisable instrumentals with Schubert-like, 'Winterreise' vocals, forming a gloomy and melancholic song cycle. Night Of Hunters is an assortment of ethereal pieces, sometimes [...]

Put down those sticks and stones. I'm about to say something that may result in tons of criticism, if not outright broken bones. I am not in love with Adele. There, I said it. Don't let me be misunderstood: Man cannot live on Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears alone, and for that, I will be eternally grateful to Adele for making the Top 10 classy again. When the dust of the 2010s settles sometime around the summer of 2020, "Rolling in the Deep" will go down as [...]

Thomas Dybdahl , one of Norway's most notable musicians, made his US full-length debut with Songsreleased July 12, 2011 on Strange Cargo, a new label created by multiple Grammy-winner Larry Klein in partnership with Decca Records/Universal Music Group. In celebration of his release, Dybdahl will join Tori Amos on the US leg of her Night of Hunters tour. The album is an intimate album of lush, intricately orchestrated pop describe by NME as "Norway's answer to Nick Drake". Listen to...

Electroacoustic übersite Fluid Radio has added a user forum to its webzine/record label/radio station/online retailer/photography/iPhone app format. Seriously, for the website you thought already had everything... In our first of two novelty sites, The Best Band Ever promises to take user-generated band rosters and create a mock band biography. It's fun, but it's powered externally, so it's a bit choppy. For example, try typing in Jeff Buckley, Niel Peart, David Crosby, Tori Amos, and Justin Bieber, which results in The Peart Justin of Buckley , a "5-piece band [...]

Singer-songwriter Mark Hole kicked off the show with an energetic performance of 'Dirty's What I Like'. While his songs wouldn't sound amiss on the soundtrack of shows like Grey's Anatomy, he gave a uniquely compelling performance. He exuded confidence, and the audience clearly responded. Songs like 'Tori Tour', dedicated to the headliner, and 'Torture Garden' demonstrated his ability to take traumatic life events and spin them into musical gold. His style may not be for everyone, but he's very good at what he does. He did a great job warming up the audience for [...]
