Sydney, Australia’s Field Day 2013 went off on New Years Day. Field Day provided amazing music including catering for one hell of a closing set, taking on Sydney’s infamously expensive inner city noise restriction costs to make sure that Hot Chip played lived. With shows from Two Door Cinema Club, Hot Chip, SBTRKT, Mark Ronson, The Vaccines, Erol Alkan, Disclosure, Krafty Kuts & A-Skillz, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Fake Blood, Booka Shade, DJ Nu-Mark, Django Django, Adrian Lux, Coolio and many many more. Hey kids - did you miss me? A lot has happened since we last spoke. I went to Chicago to see/swoon over Tame Impala, the Game of Thrones prophecy that winter is coming has turned into winter is here (along with the painfully short days and wretched dry skin that accompanies it), I essentially stole some more awesome furniture and housewares from craigslist, I took part in a friends up north (west, actually) weekend to make up for the lack of such a summer trip, saw Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs at the mother effin Shelter right here in Detroit, and [...]
If you're reading this, congratulations, you have made it to 2013. You made it through the gauntlet of family dinners, traveling, and NYE benders, but now it's time to get back into the swing of real life. A few days ago Annie Mac ran through a pre-NYE show that'll help you ease into the old routine again featuring a best of the bedtime mix series, including a quick mix from Flying Lotus . His mix starts a few minutes after the hour mark and includes a quick interview along with a number of tracks that FlyLo associates with bedtime. Elsewhere the [...]

Django Django | [...]
2012 left me a bit blah. I'll always find at least 5 great albums in any year that trips me out and will be listened to for years to come. The top 10 i've listed here to me I feel they've hit it right out of the park. You may have noticed that i haven't blogged much about new [...]

The year 2012 was supposed to bring about 'the end of the world'. But here we are compiling 'best of' lists as if it were 2011 or 2010 or any other year from when blogging started. For me it was a big year with my new job travelling to remote Australia, and some pretty crazy stuff happened out there. On Christmas Island the craziness was the wild chickens and many nervous crabs, along with the locals who choose to live somewhere both remote and expensive. There was Darwin, a beautiful developing city, with an odd aggressiveness to it which [...]

Young adults like to spend New Years Eve getting ridiculously drunk. Oldies countdown the new year with the fam bam, if they make it to midnight. Fourteen year olds drink goon and dodge the copious amount of police on the Harbour. But then there's the festivals, the glorious NYE festivals. You get to watch live music, camp under the stars and surround yourself with like-minded people as you whisk away the previous twelve months and set yourself a new years resolution that you know you won't stick to. One of these wonderful [...]

I woke up this morning to a blanket of snow. Apparently the meteorologists were right about something for once and the snowstorm that was predicted to hit New England did and now the little boy in me is squealing with joy at the prospect of a white Christmas. What better track to match the youthful energy pumping through me than the original version of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs' "Household Goods." I wrote about the Zeds Dead's seductive remix to this track back in August, and comparing one to the other is akin to comparing Rihanna with [...]

totally enormous extinct dinosaurs - your love i love how TEED totally respects all the grooves from 90's house music and throws in current grooves while he's at it. the song plays exceptionally well live and LOVE strutting to this while on the streets of NYC. http://feeds.feedburner.com/Wo ngiesMusicWorld

By tradition, the third annual Nite Versions 'Best Of' list gathered some of the greatest albums issued over the past 365 days. We've been keeping a closer eye on how the genre(s) was changing for ages. We also appreciate the way it was transforming into better shapes and dimensions while never stood still and boring to its audience. For us, the year belonged to Tame Impala . This is the album that we thought is insanely impressive and was most listened on our players in 2012. We are pleased to invite you explore the rest of the [...]

Photos and words by Walter Sy It was the perfect night to dance on a chilly night as English producer and DJ, Orlando Higginbottom, professionally known as Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, brought his electronic dance party beats to The Fonda. Dancing girls in leopard prints and confetti shooting. TEED thanked the crowd that a grown man like himself can wear a headdress and party the night away. [View with PicLens]
Here we are, on the cusp of our 100 Best Songs of 2012; a four-part series of only the best and top songs from 2012. After a busy year here ...

ok. So these are the albums that nearly made my top 10 albums of 2012. As I've spoken about on the facebook page, I've decided to make the top 10 just Australian albums. The past year has seen a big shift for maamf, with the focus now purely on local stuff (hint hint to those [...]
The underground had a big year in the US in 2012 and we only felt it appropriate to highlight some of these amazing artists independently from potentially bigger or more commercial artists in the dance music world today. We considered the year these artists have had in terms of production, live sets, and overall influence. We also generally picked artists we love and admire; artists we feel are extremely important to pushing electronic music forward. This list of 25 names includes legends and young guns alike, but we can assure you that every single one of these artists is incredibly [...]

What a Wednesday, world: ► Breakout sister band Haim headlines the sold-out Troubadour, supported by the Damn Sons . ► Robert Francis returns to L.A. for a hometown show, teaming up with Trevor Hall for a holiday party at the Roxy. Brian Wright (who's playing with a band that includes Brother Sal, Eli Wulfmeier, Joe Purdy, Philip Krohnengold, Deacon Marrquin and Jonathan Flaugher) supports. ► Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs club it up at the Fonda Theatre, along with Them Jeans and Ryan Hemsworth. It's been a year since Eats Everything made an Essential Mix appearance, and this time around, the new #13 on Resident Advisor 's Top 100 DJs of 2012 poll had a special treat for us. This two hour segment featured an unreasonably large number of incredible edits, bootlegs, and reworks by the big man himself. No surprises in his inclusion of pals like Justin Martin , T.E.E.D ., and Catz n Dogz but we were tickled by inclusions of Green Velvet , Jacques Da Booty, Kölsch, Paul Simon, and the [...]
