So, completely unrelated to anything, last night I found myself unveiling a web of nerdo music information that had me rather astonished. It all started thanks to Paul Foley's "Groove To Dis Biatch" ghetto ass mix cd from ages ago I found knocking around the car. The mix starts out with Kraftwerk's "The Man Machine" which alone is incredibly dope, however, my journey begins a few tracks later into the mix. Toto's EPIC sensitive anthem "Georgy Porgy" is where I totally lost it. This song is so amazing, I mean its one of those [...]

![Project X Would Do Anything For Love, But It Won't Sing That [Project X]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1292612_lg.jpg)
As part of Idolator's continuing effort to geekily analyze every music chart known to man, we present a new edition of Project X, in which Michaelangelo Matos breaks down top-ten lists from every genre imaginable. In this special Oct. 10 edition of his column—it is 10/10, after all—he breaks down some of the worst lyrics to reach the airwaves of British radio. In May 2007 the British radio station BBC6 conducted a survey of the worst lyrics in pop. BBC6's Top 10 Worst Lyrics (listener [...]

Francesco Baccini "sbarca" in Germania. [...]

I'm taking you back, back, back a few decades to the late, late, late 70's. An American rock band, Toto released their very first single, Hold The Line which topped the charts at #5! Tonight I have the Ultrasound remix of the track for you, which is basically an extended version of the original. You can NEVER have enough Toto! Hold The Line ( Ultrasound Remix )
Hmm, some of my posts have been disappearing lately. Is Blogger caving to industry pressure and automatically removing posts if a label complains to them? Are record labels ignoring the courtesy of contacting blog writers first to remove tracks? Let's see what happens if I the tracks from the missing posts back up. The posts were about spending time with friends at a lake in Maine and then about looking for jobs in Africa, so the songs are on those topics. Laura Kennedy and an Anonymous Volunteer at the WGLT Recycled Music Sale Well, the WGLT Recycled Music Sale was a rousing success for Emily and I, coming away with 25 records and an album stand for a mere $29.50! The albums were all $1 (with a 50 cent 45 thrown in for good measure) and the stand was a whopping $1 as well! It was a great Saturday afternoon for a great cause, and we absolutely cannot wait for next summer and the next WGLT Recycled Music [...]

Tomorrow is officially the first day of summer, the longest day of the year, but today it's time to sit back, relax and enjoy a fine slice of Friday Five! Last week I let the Junior Pantherz take over in the kitchen, but I'm back this week to take the reigns. The Fivers have been representing in droves and as always I'm amazed at the range of music that appears in the comments. We must be doing something right here at Ickmusic to get such a diverse crowd together. For those who have not [...]
TOTO - AFRICA (DODI'S CROSSOVER MIX) (ZSHARE link due to server limitations) Hi Everybody! Our friend Dodi from Croatia has made another fantastic extended mix. It's the 1982 released single Africa by American band Toto . You can find the original version of this track on their album Toto IV . Dodi used only the Album Version to create this nice [...]
After scoring impressive hits with 1978's Toto and 1979's Hydra , the band Toto suffered their biggest commercial failure with the release of their third album, 1981's Turn Back . The individual members of the band remained in-demand session players for acts like Hall & Oates, Donna Summer, and Elton John, but they were in need of a hit when they released Toto IV in April 1982. They got it in the form of the single Rosanna , an ode to guitarist Steve Lukather's then-girlfriend, actress Rosanna Arquette. The breezy song [...]

Mylo - real name Myles Maclnnes - is the man responsible for one of the most important records of the noughties: 2004's Destroy Rock And Roll . Receiving widespread critical acclaim, even Elton John is quoted as saying it was his album of the year; the Scotsman's debut was as refreshing as it was retrospective, providing something acceptable to fans across the musical spectrum. There was however, a track that never made it onto Destroy Rock And Roll [...]

"The most popular yacht rock artists enjoyed massive commercial success. During its peak years, yacht rock dominated the Grammy Awards, with Christopher Cross and Toto sweeping the major awards in 1981 and 1983 respectively, feats consistently derided by Grammy prognosticators. [3] However, yacht rock was not a hit with most rock critics at the time, who dismissed it as being corporate rock that was overproduced, generic, and Middle of the road.... ... Corporate Rock is an often pejorative term used primarily by music critics to describe rock music, particularly music from arena rock bands, [...]

So there has been some debate between me and xxx xxxxxx about what is a homonym. For the purpose of this music blog, I am using the term to mean: Two or more songs with the same TITLE with different lyrics and music. In order from shortest to longest: Dennis Brown (ska) Kazzabe (sounds like its from Africa) Toto (the 80s classic) Peter Mayer (Duke's favorite singer-songwriter) [...]

I apologize for the lack of updates this week. Between interning, looking for jobs and getting ready to move out of the apt. where I was staying in Queens, it's been a busy week. I have plenty to write about, but I'm still digesting a lot of it. However, one thing I did get to this week was the screening of Episodes 1-10 of Yacht Rock in Park Slope. Fake Michael McDonald, Fake Koko, Real Me, Real Mita. Aug. 23, Union Hall, Park Slope. I know [...]
Okay, So this theme week has totally thrown me with all the poster input and lack of following the winner. Personally, I don't like theme weeks because I find that there is just no pleasing someone who picks out a theme. They have a song in mind and if you don't post that they're not interested in listening to your suggestion. Maybe I'm jaded. Maybe I just pick bad theme week songs. Maybe the earth is flat. So I asked Alysia (my wife of three years and significant of 10 years) to help [...]
I'm going to be "blessing the rains down in Africa" in a few days (yes, that's a Toto lyric) in a continuation of my summer of continuous world travel. I'll be doing some charity work in Kenya as well as exploring around Nairobi. I might also do some celeb spotting (Brangelina, Bono, Lindsay Lohan, who knows who could pop up?) Anyone have any suggestions of places to go? Make sure to pick up the two Africa-related tunes below. While I'm gone, 4 of the awesomest bloggers on the web are taking over for me, [...]
