Album Review // Toy Horses Artist : Toy Horses Title : Toy Horses Label : Albino Sparrow Records Release Date : April 10th 2011 / Re-released March 5th (Deluxe Edition) Written by Antonella Azzollini There are musical works which, from the first listen, take you by the hand and carry you away. Album Review: Toy Horses – Toy Horses

Album Review: Toy Horses – Toy Horses They're one of the best things to come out of Wales in a good while, and no, they are not Tom Jones. They're Toy Horses : Adam D. Franklin and his stepdad Tom Williams are the principal protagonists in this story and this story is about brilliant pop music. On first listen to their self-titled, I am already hooked; on my second listen, I discovered the beautiful lyrics; on third listen I sat back and enjoyed myself; on fourth listen, the realization set in that this was a piece of work that people [...]

'Whimsical' is a word bandied about a little too much by bloggers, but I don't know what other words fits for this new video for 'Play What You Want' (single out on the 12th of March) from Toy Horses. Uh...precious? I know. Adorable! The Stephen Fry Twitter endorsement is just icing on the cake, really. Well done! Catch the band on tour in March , shortly after their self-titled debut drops on 27 February. Click here to view the [...]

LOVE BOAT(Indie Rock)Sure it's short, but Love Boat's "You Know I Really Want You" is a jaunting good time. A little Johnny B. Goode mixed with early Arctic Monkeys? It's brilliant. Toy Horses - Toy Horses

Toy Horses are a father-son duo from Wales whose story was forged here in America (they played SXSW and a KCRW gig before cutting this very record with Wilco alum Ken Coomer in his Nashville studio). Back in January , I declared that their self-titled debut record had a lot riding on it, and now that it has finally arrived (April 11 in the UK and April 19th in the US), I can say with absolute certainty that it completely lives up to the hype - proof that a hotly tipped record is sometimes hotly tipped for a [...]

WONGIE AWWWW SONG OF THE WEEK: toy horses - interrupt

Toy Horses - Interrupt (Official Video)
toy horses - interrupt [this welsh duo found early support through kcrw's nic harcourt who not only hooked them up with a showcase at sxsw, but also introduced the band to wilco's ken coomer (who went on to produce their debut album). the end result is a collection of heartfelt tracks with has a classic sunny retro pop feel that i like so much. just press play and you'll know what i mean.] http://feeds.feedburner.com/Wo ngiesMusicWorld

VIDEO // Toy Horses' New Single

VIDEO // Toy Horses' New Single Interrupt is set for release on 4th April, taken from Toy Horses' debut self-titled album, which was produced by no other than Wilco drummer Ken Coomer. Starting with harmonious strings, the Cardiff lads are set to rise on the back of Interrupt, an accented ballad that's... Read more..

Toy Horses // Toy Horses EP // Out Now // Top Button Digital

Feel for us poor music reviewers. The moral quagmires into which we sink, limbs flailing desperately. The grey areas we inhabit, torn between should and must and could and oh dear God somebody pass me the Prozac. The desire to empathise with new, bright-eyed acts and give them a chance when it's our unassailable moral duty as reviewers to inform you that they're peddling disposable, tedious, derivative burble that doesn't deserve the time of your day, and that this jaunty, lovelorn indie sound is a wretched, deformed puppy that should have been drowned at birth, and that we'd rather go [...]

Toy Horses - And It Was You

Toy Horses - And It Was You Label. Albino Sparrow Records Release Date: 21/02/11 Link: Myspave The new single from Welsh hotly tipped acoustic 'gems' Toy Horses is an unfortunate disaster. If I was to be incredibly charitable I might try and describe the band as sounding like a more miserable and less exciting Mumm-Ra. The track itself, the plainly named 'And It Was You' is a despondent, dreary and uninspiring ballad. The limited selection of instruments (a piano, guitar and violin over a lifeless drum beat) add to this [...]

And It Was You by Toy Horses (Official Video)
Trans-Atlantic Welsh duo Toy Horses release debut single Single and album produced by Wilco's Ken Coomer "And It Was You" out 14 February (Albino Sparrow Records) Toy Horses are set to take their rightful place alongside the almighty preceding talent spawned from Welsh turf as this step-father/step-son duo release their début single, "And It Was You" , on February 14 2011, with a début album, 'Toy Horses' , arriving in April. toy horses // "and it was you" + bonus track

toy horses // "and it was you" + bonus track toy horses is a step-father and son duo from cardiff, UK. their story is a bit interesting...after gaining some radio traction in the UK, the pair was invited to play at a SXSW showcase, ultimately leading to a KCRW session in LA. after hearing some of the songs, ken coomer (former wilco drummer) contacted toy horses, offering to produce their debut record. joining them in the nashville studio were some very "pop" figures...musicians who have contributed to the likes of the counting crows, taylor swift and jewel, and i would say the resulting sound is pretty "pop" [...]

Single Review: Toy Horses – And It Was You

Single Review: Toy Horses – And It Was You Toy Horses - what sounds like an unlikely partnership between Adam Franklin and his stepfather Tom Williams - are releasing a new single, 'And It Was You', on 21 February on Albino Sparrow Records. In the top 40 world of autotune and pretty-faced quasi-talents, Toy Horses is a refreshing change. Refreshing, in the sense that you can take 'basic' instruments - guitars, piano, drums and a spare violin - and record a song that blows away most things that require a computer or other electronic wizardry to get off the ground. And [...]

Toy Horseplay at its very best

Toy Horseplay at its very best Paul 'Maximo Park' Smith has aged a bit... Some bands are so tuneful it hurts. Some bands send you music which instantly cheers you up. Some bands have extremely boring and un-Google-able names. Toy Horses tick all three boxes. They're also from Wales, but that's not particularly important right now. What IS important is that Toy Horses are giving away the beautifully haunting And It Was You as one of those songs-for-email-address things, and you should really take them up on the action. The duo - Adam D Franklin and step-father Tom Williams - [...]
