Blogger has made a recent habit of deleting some of my posts, which has me considering making a switch to another service in the near future. You can read a discussion on the whole thing at Berkeley Place . This is part of the reason that there has not been a lot of recent activity on this blog. I have a hard time spending time creating posts if there's a possibility that they will continue to magically disappear. I'm not giving up on this whole thing by any means, I just may have to alter my approach [...]
Just got off the phone with Club Dada co-owner Ben Tapia after receiving an anonymous tip (and also, in retrospect, an anonomiss tip) that Dada's doors were locked by an outside party this morning. ... Continue reading "Club Dada Shuts Down..But Only For Two Days, Turns Out" >

Because I'm short on time this week and don't nearly have it in me to write up full reviews for some of the records being released, I've decided to introduce the segment titled Capsules, wherein I give you a few sentences talking about a few different albums. This allows me to maximize the number of artists I'm able to discuss while keeping the words to more of a minimum. Please keep in mind that I'll only do capsules on weeks with lots of releases I'm excited about, and the ones featured in this particular segment will usually be slightly less [...]

It's been a little while since we've heard from ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead (henceforth referred to as Trail Of Dead). The good news is the band has ended a bitter dispute with their former label and are set to release a new full length album early in 2009. In the meantime we have the new EP Festival Thyme . The EP sees the band straying further from their Sonic Youth feedback to carve even more of their own [...]

Trail of Dead's new vinyl EP, Festival Thyme , will be released tomorrow. I think anyone who has been a fan of this band previously should take note because this song absolutely kills. If this song is any indication, I think I'm really going to enjoy the post-Interscope period. Listen to "Bells of Creation" on their MySpace page .

All Photos by Abbey Braden courtesy of ATP. Saturday night we got back very late to our hotel so I proceeded to order vodka and cranberries by the handful and shoot as many as possible before the looming last call at the bar. I clearly overshot my target and ended up waking up Sunday with a ludicrously painful hangover to start off the day. Most of the afternoon consisted of me trying recover. It finally subsided and I was able to make it to the very end of the Mercury Rev show. As soon [...]

And now the conclusion of our three-day coverage of this past weekend's All Tomorrow's Parties festival in upstate New York. My dear friend Ian has been kind enough to contribute his words, photos and even some video footage to help spread the joy felt by those who attended the event, and inform those of us who couldn't make it just how jealous we should be. Thank you Ian, you're practically a full-fledged blogger now! So, here's Ian's Day 3 review: I woke up so sore the morning after what proved to be a violent Lightning Bolt set, and [...]

Last night, Conrad Keely and Jason Reece brought ...AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD back to their original two piece form, switching up which instruments they played throughout the night. The band rocked just as hard as being a 10 piece with two full drum kits. The seemingly short set featured classics like "Source Tags And Codes" and "Another Morning Stoner" (which was loosely dedicated to Buddha and the Dalai Lama) as well as some older tracks from Madonna, and one new song. The new track was performed with [...]

And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - So Divided (Interscope) Quand le groupe a commencé à se faire une petite réputation par ici (pour leur second album), la presse les avait rapidement classé aux côtés des Strokes, des White Stripes et des autres dans une jolie case "renouveau du rock à l'aube d'un nouveau millénaire" et, effectivement, à l'époque, le nom "Trail of Dead" évoquait un mur de guitares et des concerts apocalyptiques (où certains spectateurs ont laissé quelques précieux points d'audition). Un peu plus [...]
