Dave Simonett (lead vox) led the crowd through each song with a characteristic twang and smooth vocal delivery, but fiddle player (virtuoso would be a more accurate description), Ryan Young stole the show. Young's unbridled energy and pure, unadulterated talent cut through the mix as he delivered riff after riff of sonic perfection. [...]

Trampled by Turtles will be in town this week to play a show in support of their latest release "Stars and Satellites". You can see them perform live on Tuesday, May 22nd at The Fonda Theatre along with Brown Bird to open up the show. By now we've all seen and heard of the AV Club's Undercover series where they have bands cover popular songs ranging from George Michael to R. Kelly. We also know by now that some band's covers work extremely well and others fall pretty flat. I am going to let you in on a little HearYa secret. Sometimes when we get new music, I will remark to Oz that such and such band's new song is giving me a Chubberoo. A Chubberoo is defined as a boner brought forth by great musical excitement. We're still awaiting word from Webster's if it will be added into this year's dictionary. We saw Young The Giant cover R. Kelly's classic, " Ignition (Remix) ," for A.V. Undercover a minute ago. This time, Trampled By Turtles takes on a song from a genre similar to the band's own, Arcade Fire's "Rebellion (Lies)." Featuring some country-inspired flare from the banjo and the fiddle, this cover is definitely an interesting one, but remains pretty faithful to the original, despite the obvious differences.
