What can I say, I'm still reeling a bit from the noise-splosion that was Sunday Monday night's show at The Greenhouse. Even if I tried to forget about the greatness that was this lo-fi, basement bash, every time I try, and fail, to hear anything quieter than a tractor driving over my skull, it all comes back in a rush of bleeding ear drums and shit-eating grins. Transmography, an Austin duo, wowed the shit out of me. The lead singer at one point was actually playing some sort of instrumental triangular pole of metal with something that resembled [...]

I made it out to The Greenhouse last night for the Arbitron, Talbot Tagora, DadFag, and Transmography show and at the cost of most of the hearing in my left ear, was absolutely stunned. The entire show, every band was impressive, but I've got to give my choice for the evening to Transmography. The lead singer played a metal pole! I was smitten. Those who chose network television instead of the short hop to the CD should be ashamed of themselves. This Papercuts album, You Can Have What You Want has been floating around my desk [...]

Friday night was a fun-filled affair. Very seldom do you see for bands back-to-back who are all really good, and when you do it is usually a special event. Most of the shows I go to don't match up well against the one that was held at the most indoor on Friday night, with a bill that featured Transmography , Nouns Group , Daniel Francis Doyle , and Health . First, I need to apologize to anyone I ever ignored when they tried to tell me about Health. I don't exactly know what [...]

Remember the first time you saw this picture? And you thought some kids in the 80's took drugs before their yearbook photo? Ya, that was a good moment, a moment when HEALTH arrived, and they haven't left or stopped touring since. They have toured with Crystal Castles , done a ton of Austin dates with Daniel Francis Doyle, and played about 15 shows last SXSW. HEALTH is better than the average noise rock/disco remix kids for a few reasons: bling t-shirts and other assorted fashions, the above picture, the use of all capital [...]

The two patriotic, dog loving gentlemen above make up the experimental rock duo Transmography . They are not new to the scene, they have been kicking ass for a hot minute- and are going to be opening up for HEALTH this Friday, July 25 at Emo's. I first saw these guys at the Above the Radar show this most recent SXSW thanks to Lawrence (thanks for TheDeathSet too, by the way), and was blown away with their energy and the amount of noise they could make. [...]

You should go to Club De Ville on Friday. Ume is playing, and they offer the sexiest rock show in town. If you haven't had a chance to see them live yet I would recommend that you seize this opportunity, I seriously love me some Ume. Transmography is playing too, and I've already told you how cool these dudes are. Also in the mix are two more local heroes in La Snacks ( a PartyEnds , Austin Sound favorite) and Moses and the Burning Bush . Check [...]
After a few months spent plotting a killer day party with my good friends from Sonic Itch Music and Cubik Musik , we're excited to invite you to Above The Radar. It's taking place on March 13th at Trophy's on South Congress, with two stages and 12 different acts from all over the map. Whether you have a taste for guitar-swinging rock & roll or something a bit more dance friendly, you'll find it here. We have a few people to thank in assisting with the production of [...]

Transmography. I saw these guys at the Mohawk last night along with Haunting Oboe Music . Just two dudes in the band, but they make one hell of a racket. People were jumping up and down inside this tiny little space as the show seemed to get better and better with each song in their setlist. You don't see that very often at this venue on a Thursday night. I made sure to get my hands on their cd that came out in March called Polydactyly , which you can pick up/preview here : "Polydactyly [...]
