Our annual list of late night television's best performances has quickly become an annual exercise in big-upping Jimmy Fallon's music talent booker. Way to go, person responsible for pointing those Studio 6B HD-cameras at our tag cloud: Bang the Fallon gong (btw, there should be a Fallon gong), a full 70% of this list comes from Late Night With Jimmy Fallon 's 2011 archives . [And while we're blanket congratulating Fallon and his staff, please join us in a hat tip to the Roots for making the list's Top Two performances Top Two-ier.] This list is [...]

Sepalcure - Sepalcure By Greg Salter Sepalcure is the space where Travis Morrison and Praveen Sharma overlap. Morrison has been working as Machinedrum for around a decade now, and achieved something of a breakthrough with his Room(s) album from earlier this year, which combined elements of footwork, juke and dubstep in a series of dense, poppy tracks – it sounded like a warmer, more welcoming companion to Ramadanman/Pearson Sound's recent work. Meanwhile, as Braille, Sharma has been a fixture of the house revival over the [...]

Sepalcure - Sepalcure On 21st November, Hotflush will release the self-titled debut LP by U.S. duo Sepalcure - aka Travis Stewart (Machinedrum) and Praveen Sharma (Praveen & Beonit). It follows two strong EPs also released by the label - Fleur earlier this year and Love Pressure , which came out last year. You can listen to the LP below, via Hypemachine, and pre-order it if you so wish. Check back next week for our review. Related Posts: [...]
![[Flashback] – The Dismemberment Plan – "Change"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3185120_lg.jpg)
One of the fundamental goals of running a music blog is to introduce people to new music. The primary method of doing this is to highlight new releases, either via up and coming bands that show potential or tried-and-true musical mainstays that generally please the masses. Lost in this growing blogging race are the building blocks that got us to where we are, the albums that sounded like the hot new thing before the hot new thing was even a thing. So, in an effort to spotlight some artists or albums that might not have hit Hype Machine lately, Listen [...]
![[Listen/Watch] – The Dismemberment Plan Perform on Jimmy Fallon](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3133740_lg.jpg)
You have probably heard by now, but The Dismemberment Plan has reunited for a short run of shows this spring. No plans for new recordings have been announced yet, but for now it is nice to have some visuals to remind us why The Dismemberment Plan is so sorely missed. Check out the video below for last night's performance of "What Do You Want Me To Say" on Jimmy Fallon. The Plan also performed "The City," which you can check out here . LL Cool J called himself the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time), but Run DMC had more sneakers. Run DMC tread the gangsta/good guy line, hooking into the mainstream and pretty much breaking rap into the suburbs, but Cool J is a freakin' movie star who at 16 roared louder than anyone else. So who's better? In the end, for me it's really a toss-up. 10 REASONS TO (STILL) LOVE COOL J AND RUN D.M.C. 10. Run DMC-The Pete Rock Megamix . [...]

Okay, we're a little late to the party on this one: apparently the memo came trhough about a week ago. That being said, just in case you missed it (like we did), here's the down low: Dismemberment Plan will be appearing at Webster Hall on January 30th of next year. This isn't entirely unheard of, as the band have reunited for one-offs in the past. Apparently this one is another one (or rather, five) off, and is to celebrate the forthcoming reissue of Emergency & I . [...]

Bazile is a solo artist from Austin, TX who writes music that he calls "Space Folk." Originally from Mississippi, Bazile grew up listening to film scores, and that appreciation has greatly contributed to his style of songwriting. And although his songs are often cinematic, Bazile truly shines when it's just his voice and guitar. Bazile [...] Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.

Last week news came via the Internet that broke my once teenage heart; Travis Morrison was retiring from music. Not only did Travis fare well enough on his own accord, but he fronted one of my favorite bands from long ago, who put out one of my favorite records titled Emergency and I. If you never listened to The Dismemberment Plan , we're bringing this back to you from the closet, and we hope you'll realize what a loss this is for the indie community; sure, it's no MJ, [...]

If his website is accurate, Travis Morrison, former frontman of the late, great Dismemberment Plan, has retired from the music scene. Whether this is permanent remains to be seen, but it's a loss that still gets me down. After all, how many people would name their band after a throwaway line from the Bill Murray classic Groundhog Day ? His solo material after the 'Plan disbanded wasn't exactly critically lauded. His debut solo disc Travistan received a whopping zero from the geniuses at Pitchfork, which effectively killed his career in the internet age. How ironic, [...]

HANK ALTOGETHER: It was a rough day for me when The Dismemberment Plan broke up. This one isn't as huge, but I'm disappointed nonetheless. Travis Morrison, former frontman of " The Plan " is one of the underlooked geniuses of indie rock. The Plan is my favorite band and will remain that way. They were doing things in a different way before there was a different way to do things in -- mixing samples with insanely musical punk tunes, bringing out the noise and knowing when to drop the melody as well. [...]

How on earth did this one pass me by? I was under the impression that following Pitchfork's 0.0 slaughter of Travis Morrison's Travistan that the guy would be about done musically. Such is the power of the 'fork that I had images of him now working for the Gap where he had the crap beat out of him on the first album. Now, I confess that I hold some affection for that album. I actually quite enjoy it. It's certainly not a great record, but nor is it the calamity that [...]

Local favorites Jukebox the Ghost are joining forces with Brooklyn's The XYZ Affair for a short tour in the beginning of the month. Before heading down to Georgia and North Carolina for a string of shows, you can catch them in Baltimore and DC. If you miss them this weekend or just have to see them again, head up Philly way next weekend. And don't forget to pick up Jukebox's new disc at your local record shop or directly from their page. 5/1: Baltimore @ WMTD First Thursday's [...]

TRAVIS MORRISON, SYSTEM & STATION, THE RAINY STATES (Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison) As frontman of Washington DCs Dismemberment Plan, Travis Morrison emerged as a chronicler of the world at its most sordid and most triumphant, all amidst gloriously catchy post-punk songs. His recent All YAll isn't exactly a return to form per sethe rhythmic explorations of his new backing group Hellfighters extend more deeply than those of his previous band (especially on I'm Not Supposed to Like You (But) and Churchgoer)and the Morrison of 2008 is both more cynical and more wide-eyed in his lyrics. After working with shifting [...]

As usual, Friday brings a slew of great shows. Here in Baltimore The Macgregor Burns Band, Good Guise, and The Break Ups play the Ottobar .
