Her talent has carried her around the world and allowed her to play with amazing performers like Crooked Fingers, Calexico, Micah P. Hinson, Head Like A Kite, Sushirobo and Mark Pickerel (formerly of Screaming Trees.) Trentalange's songs are vibrant powerful portraits of complex and compelling characters". I still feel slightly guilty with an opinion penned last year, or rather a critical eye aimed at a Barbara Trentalange video. Having quickly looked back through the [...]

Don`t get me wrong, I really do like the new release from Trentalange, we posted this track ` Fever ` some weeks back with various site links and will certainly post more in coming months. The album `Awakening, Level One` has succumbed to amazing reviews from worldwide music press and is a real pleasure to listen to. Barbara Trentalange is also an accomplished songwriter, highly experienced in regards music media but totally off the mark with this video, i`m sorry, am I the only one who thinks it`s pretty lame, many other blogs have posted it and said [...]

TRENTALANGE Awakening, Level One. (Coco Tauro Records) "…a mix of Annie Lennox's most sinister growl and PJ Harvey's vocal anguish. – VenusZine [...]

One can't help but get the feeling that something is itching at Barbara Trentalange on her new album, Awakening, Level One . Here stand eleven tracks saturated with a transmigratory nocturnal atmosphere, fulfilled by moog, theramin, wurlitzer, flute, tibetan singing bowls, yoga students, and most of the normal elements as well. Standouts include, "Fever," which opens the record with a mysterious ranchland guitar underlying the vocals, and "Ultimate Machine," a more mechanized work with harboring dance beats. Awakening, Level One is a somewhat dark and contemplative record that may gain ground with your sensibilites with each successive listen. [...]

photo: Renata Raudys (Nataworry Photography) Seattle musician Tentralange has the kind of voice that is overpowering even when she sings softly. She has a huge sound that goes well with the dark dance rock tunes she composed for her second album Awakening, Level One . Definitely night time music Awakening, Level One digs deep lyrically, exploring real and imagined fears, using sci-fi keyboard parts and bass lines that go straight for your guts. Awakening, [...]

Pomegranates : Corriander Learn More And Buy Trentalange : Fever Learn More And Buy In the terms of blog design, we have never been averse to adding a splash of colour, quietly promoting glowing text etched into a dark background and rarely allowing the excuse for the more trendier minimalistic shades of greys and whites. My avoidance of the lighter and more commonly used template combinations stems from editing a Mod Revival fanzine in the early [...]

Fol Chen - "Cable TV (Liars Remix)" ; Time and time again I have railed against remixes on this site, but every once in a while one will pop up in my inbox that really intrigues me. Such was the case Tuesday when I got a remix of a Fol Chen track that I enjoy done by Liars, a band I have the utmost respect for. I still prefer the original version to the remixed one, but Liars definitely add a layer of depth with some deep percussion and some odd fade-ins and outs. [...]

"Fever" - Trentalange More minor-key moodiness, but quite the different aura this time; with twiddling synths, a noir-ish surf guitar line, and an ominous dance beat, "Fever" sounds like the soundtrack to a spy movie starring the Bee Gees, with Annie Lennox singing lead. Okay not exactly, but that'll get your mind working in the right direction. Trentalange is Barbara Trentalange, former lead singer for the Seattle-based quintet Spyglass, and last heard around these parts in August 2006 , when her first solo CD was released. Beyond [...]
