NYC/Portland's Trevor Giuliani isn't singer-songwriter material; this is way too structured to be your basic singer-songwriter. Subcontrario (In Stereo) , the new album from Trevor Giuliani makes layed pop music that works well for the coffee shop crowd as well as those looking for very detailed and colorful tunes. Sounding like the next Swedish multi-instrumentalist sensation, Trevor Giuliani takes his many influences and translates them in this lush and catchy album filled with a seemingly carefree notion. Nothing seems forced or fake...just fun. Buy Subcontrario (In [...]

Peter Bradley Adams has a lush new single out, For You , as a teaser for his new album Traces which is due out Sept. 22 online and in stores on Oct. 20, here in the US. If you love country-tinged Americana folk music, you will fall right in love with PBA. His voice is chocolately smooth and his acoustic guitar is always upfront and played in that way that I often wish I had a name for, it's that rippling brook sound. You know what I mean? His fingers travel over [...]
On Thursday we posted rounding up some of the less well-known new releases we'd been enjoying. We've been so inundated with more cracking tunes that we had to do the right thing and let you know about them as well.First up we have MM faves the Big Pink, and their new single Dominos, which is pretty much on repeat on Radio 6 at the moment, and comes from their excellent debut album A Brief History

Once again I find myself with an overwhelming amount of solid MP3's on my desktop that I don't think I could ever find enough time to get around to giving each the proper review that they deserve. My best option is probably to start doing Licorice Pizza -style mailbox clearing posts every Thursday. Just throwing it out there, let us know what you think. Highlights for me this time around include Blackalicious member Gift of Gab's new solo release, pyschadelic duo Sunbears! who's show we saw at Granada a few months back and [...]
New music from M.anifest and Brother Ali, No Bird Sing interviewed & audio from Chris Koza State Fair performance.

photo: me I'm back of holiday and so I think I'll start posting again. Whilst on holiday I really did get into a lot of Blues/Soft Rock music so if you have any, then please send it to me. There's a good chance I'll feature it if you send it to me soon. Anyway onto music. One album I'm really looking forward to is, surprising, Pitbull' s new album. Admittedly I've only heard two tracks off of it, "Hotel Room Service" and "I Know You Want Me." If you live [...]
If you're in the mood for some dependable acoustic indie pop, look no farther than Trevor Giuliani. A promising East Coast transplant now in Portland, Giuliani's album Subcontrario (In Stereo) (out July 21 on Dovecote) is tinged with a little folk-pop and a little chamber-pop. Giuliani's style is refreshing, filled with clean lines and crisp [...]

Portland newcomer Trevor Giuliani dropped his debut record Subcontrario (In Stereo) a few weeks ago, and it's a rather lovely, lilting pop record, full of big choruses and tender melodies. Unfortunately, the release show planned with it was axed at the last minute, but Giuliani now has rescheduled a new date, and we're giving away a pair of tickets to his show on Sunday, August 9 at Berbati's Pan. Since Giuliani moved to town last year, he's still relatively unknown in PDX. So, the contest is easy: just suggest the top three things he [...]

Often times I'm admittedly late to the game on musicians I should have been on top of way back when. Way back when in this case is only June, but regardless, I gotta step it up. I received Trevor Giuliani's Subcontrario (In Stereo) (released July 21 on Dovecote Records ) in the actual mail and didn't get around to listening to it until just recently. Yeah, that was a huge mistake. Seriously - I could've been spending so much of that time throwing his songs on mixtapes and wooing just [...]

What has been circling the submission circles here at the blog? Well a fair amount of stuff! You would think with the sheer amount of music bloggers these days that there aren't enough artists to go around! ....sorry inside blogger joke, kinda. I thought I would feature 3 artists that all cover different sounds but all are finding a home around here. We have a traditional folk artists Thomas Western, a dark moody experience called "The Steals" and to leave you on at least a bit of a summer note, the indie stylings of Trevor Giuliani. Let's get [...]
The indie world has no shortage of folk-based artists plying their trade. Most of them can do little more than barely play the acoustic guitar which accompanies their melodramatic crooning.Once in a while there's an artist that shows a spark of something more. Portland, OR's Trevor Giuliani is one of those artists. This week he released his debut full length album Subcontrario (In Stereo). So

TREVOR GIULIANI SUBCONTRARIO (IN STEREO) (Dovecote Records) www.myspace.com/trevorgiuliani I think the speakers on my laptop are dying. There's a certain static that seems to come across them from time to time when things get cranked too loud. I listen to music with a fair amount of distortion, so I never hear it. However, when I cranked up Trevor Giuliani's latest, Subcontrario (In Stereo) , that slight static over his otherwise crisp sound became quite apparent. I'm sure this would bug the hell out [...]

Do you like taking drives with just your thoughts and some good tunes? That's what Trevor Giuliani's debut album, Subcontrario (In Stereo) , reminds me of. It's really chill, and makes me wish I had enough gas money to just cruise with all my windows down for hours. The album is pretty solid, there are songs that I like more than others, but overall it's a very good album. His stories just kind of draw you in, and soon you realize that you're completely lost in the music. I'm pretty sure Dovecote is still offering up [...]
AOL/Spinner is streaming the following albums through Sunday, July 26, so listen while you can. • Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs, 'Under the Covers Vol. 2' • Fiery Furnaces, 'I'm Going Away' More streams after the jump, and as always,...

A recent Oregon transplant by way of New York by way of Connecticut, Trevor Giuliani has seen quite a bit in his journey to find somewhere to put down roots. As he puts it, "New York City from 18 to 22 can provide good incubation space, but now I want a garden and actually know my recycling is being recycled." The open space and greenery have, apparently, done wonders for his creative side as his debut album, Subcontrario (In Stereo) is an engaging and dynamic set of pop folk songs with a subtle experimental [...]

Portland, OR Trevor Giuliani wrote, demoed, recorded, and mixed his debut record in New York with Dean Baltulonis (The Hold Steady, Darker My Love) and Dave Lynch. Subcontrario (In Stereo) is available July 21 from Dovecote Records and comes recommended for fans of other singer/songwriters like Cass McCombs. I've been wanting to share this song for a while now but somehow it just remained in my drafts. This gem of a song was sent to my email a couple of weeks back and immediatey fell in love with the song. Recently relocated from New York to Portland, Trevor Giuliani best fits the singer-songwriter label but yet is far from your typical singer-songwriter/acoustic guitar musician. Wasting Your Town is an absolutely delightful song which is indeed pretty difficult to describe. I guess that's the beauty of it [...]
