Note: I wrote this post, and the next one in Peru this past month, but was unable to post them at the time. I'm now back safe and sound in North America. Needless to say, the New Years show mentioned below has come and gone. I have been in Lima, Peru for the past 2 weeks. I've been having an amazing time! The people are amazing, and I have seen so many brilliant things. I'm sadened to admit that my trip here is already half over. But there is one thing about Peru that is driving me banana [...]

Three years ago, at the very beginning of Grade 9, I remember coming home and turning on MuchMusic. Normally, the channel would have been background noise to me eating in the TV room, but not this time. "So She's Leaving", The Trews first single off their sophomore album "Den of Thieves", blared through the television screen. I couldn't help but be drawn to the sounds of the thrashing guitar perfectly complementing the lead singer Colin MacDonald's booming voice, which can now be recognized anywhere. That set ended with a lively cover of Bohemian Rhapsody and I'm curious to see if they'll play some covers tonight since some Stones covers have also been known to show up. No Time For Later , their latest album, was released in February though I haven't heard [...]

Let's see what he has to say: Seaboard Stomp -- Blind Arthur Blake This is from an original recording from the early twentieth century by "The King of Ragtime Guitar." Blind Blake was born around 1893 and died about 1933. I love this song because it is an artifact from the past and fascinating to hear how [...]

I have been listening to Sirius' channel 95, The Iceberg, a lot as of late. They play Canadian music, and only Canadian music. I have decided to try and give some exposure to bands/musicians from Canada that get ignored in the American music blogs. So this is the first shot. The other day driving home from work I heard "So You're Leaving" and was completely blown away. I spent most of the next few days finding out what I could about them. I will share this knowledge if [...]
