The news that Comedy Central ordered three more seasons of South Park was predictable. Since its premier in 1997, the South Park brand name has been one of the most [...]

![[Album Review/Listen] – Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone – "The Book of Mormon: Original Broadway Cast Recording"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3569015_lg.jpg)
Tweet Before we begin, a few disclaimers: 1. I don't like musicals; it's a matter of personal taste. Musical theatre is a blend of singing, dancing, and acting, three theatrical disciplines I would rather see in concerts, stage plays, or ballet, respectively. I'm not a Broadway devotee. 2. I'm going to try my best to check my thoughts on religion at the door. In my mind, Mormons occupy only a slightly higher subject position than Scientologists [...]
Matt Zoller Seitz is on point with his assessment of how Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the guys behind South Park, have become the defining humorists of this generation . Of course they have competition. There's "The Daily Show," for sure, though I'd argue that Jon Stewart's version is as much a news program as a comedy series. But for audacity, visual flair, musical chops, verbal invention and gut-busting silliness, not to mention consistency of vision over time, I think the "South Park" boys trump all comers - including the creators of "The Simpsons," a landmark show [...]
It's not hard to come up with theories as to why Slash has gotten so lame over the years - aging, sobriety, marriage, fatherhood, pacemaker, Fergie, etc. - but has anyone ever considered that Slash just might not be real? I mean, I know a truly silly number of people who have been Slash for [...]

Do yourself a favor and head over to NPR to listen to the cast recording of "The Book of Mormon." I'm not generally one for musicals, but let me tell you, the first song had me in stitches and I was won over with each subsequent song. If you're having a bad day this will make up for it.

If you have some extra time to spend today you should spend it listening to The Book Of Mormon . The full cast recording of all the songs from the Broadway Musical from Trey Parker & Matt Stone. If you like things that are awesome you will enjoy it. The full thing is streaming on NPR right now HERE
Sounds like Trey Parker and Matt Stone have another hit on their hands . But for all its irreverence — and there's enough off-color insouciance to offend church ladies of every denomination — "The Book of Mormon" has the old-fashioned musical comedy heart of adults who spent much of their adolescence lip-syncing to original cast albums in their finished basements. Co-directed by Parker and Casey Nicholaw ("The Drowsy Chaperone"), the production also has a slight earnest streak that may be easy to overlook once the action moves [...]

Over the past fifteen years Trey Parker and Matt Stone have entrenched themselves within popular culture as the boundary-pushing mouthpieces of a generation frustrated by social, political, and religious incompetence. These two have a gift for controversial, brilliant commentary on the things we take too seriously, and South Park's longevity, coupled with the success of films like South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut and Team America: World Police, have demonstrated that Matt and Trey can appeal to broad audiences and still manage to make fun of everyone. After the jump: details on Matt and Trey's new musical The [...]
Southpark creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone discuss their upcoming Broadway debut, Book of Mormon . Be afraid, Broadway, be very afraid come March 2011.

Editor's Note: There's really no excuse for what you're about to read and the tracks you're about to endure. But if you can't laugh at the fact that the Jonas Brothers are currently all up on Radio Free Chicago, alongside Timber Timbre and Cursive, then... Well... Personally, I laugh to keep from crying. This is what happens when I say "Of course you can make a mix for RFC, Heidi!" Brace yourselves. Okay, so being the roommate of the infamous Amber Valentine, there is never a dull moment, be it deciding to run out [...]

Matt Stone (left) and Trey Parker (right) It's time for "piss" or "tits" to go. According to Comedy Central , room's got to be made for "Muhammad" on Carlin's 7 Dirty Words list. If you don't know what I'm talking about, stop what you're doing and read jGerson's article . He perfectly articulates what so many of us are feeling: Stop fucking with my show, you religious lunatics (or something to that effect). Never in my life did I think I would see a fatwa issued condemning two guys who created a talking piece [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. I'll be pretty sad if any terrorists take down Trey Parker and Matt Stone. RevolutionMuslim.com posted the warning following the 200th episode of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's "South Park," which included a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad disguised in a bear suit. The Web posting also included a graphic photo of Theo van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker who was murdered in 2004 after making a documentary on violence against Muslim women. "We have [...]
Is it too early to call the team up between Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez (creator of Avenue Q ) potentially great? The Book of Mormon , according to the New York Post, "tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries sent off to spread the word in a dangerous part of Uganda. Their tale is told alongside the story of Joseph Smith, founder of the Church of Latter-day Saints." But the reason this has me excited, aside from both the tornado of awesome-osity created [...]

You may recall the well-known episode of South Park in which they told the story of the Book of Mormon with musical interludes of Trey Parker singing, "dum dum dum dum dum." (If not, check out Parker and Matt Stone discussing this and other musical moments from the show with P4K earlier this week.) Well, the creators of said fictional Colorado town are now bringing the story of Joseph Smith to Broadway. "Growing up in Colorado, a lot of our friends were Mormons and we always thought their book would [...]
It's Friday! You have no idea how excited I am to unpack my suitcase, lounge on the couch and go to the grocery store. It's gonna be one hot weekend.
