My eyes are sickeningly bloodshot. Often, I have dozens of minor epiphanies involving the asses of strange women on the subway. I want to tear out every single supple, inappropriate hair from each of my bony shriveled fingers, the only skinny parts of this trainwrecked physique. My gums ache and bleed. [...]

Mp3: Totimoshi - Ladron 12 Galaxies was the host to three incredible bands on July 8th, Big Business, Triclops! and Totimoshi, who were celebrating the release of the album Milagrosa . Totimoshi's sound leans heavily on dense yet concise riffs, leaving room for drummer Chris Fuggit to relentlessly pound his drums without stepping on the arrangement. Frontman Antonio Aguilar's Stratocaster/Mesa Boogie rig, provides a massive wall of sound, while allowing his riffs to cut through the sound at will. Bassist Meg Castellanos is the glue that holds this juggernaut of a three piece [...]
Let me just start by saying that Out Of Africa is fun but often difficult to listen to. It is not without merit, but the freaked-out combination of spastic hardcore and crazed-prog rock is utterly dizzying at times. The music turns quickly with sharp dynamic shifts and moves from only gently warped to frenetically abrasive faster than you can say Mars Volta ripoff. And although there are many instantly apparent similarities between San Fransisco's Triclops! and The Mars Volta, Triclops! does without the Latin influences and tends to freak out a little more [...]

Triclops! (San Francisco, CA) You may remember a few months back when I raved up and down about how amazing Triclops! were. If you forgot check the post here . The band recently released a full length "Out Of Africa" on Alternative Tentacles - which was founded in the late 1970s by Dead Kennedys. TONIGHT the bay area rockers will be performing at The Scene in Glendale with 400 Blows , Big [...]

Made up of former and current members of Bottles and Skulls, Fleshies, Lower Forty-Eight and a drummer who is in too many other bands to list, San Francisco's Triclops! are a veritable hybrid of the Bay Area underground punk/hardcore scene. Triclops!'s "trademark" are their vocals, which for about half of Out Of Africa are run through broken solid state amps with a phaser explosion - achieving a sound that I can only describe as how the Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler-Zavala would sound singing underwater. While slightly off-putting on first listen, the phasered vocals effects [...]

I get emails : Hey, What's with all the club music? R U GAY? - yo mama I found it odd that my mother would write me something like that, especially since she usually favours the writing of full words instead of using letters which phonetically sound as words in order to replace actual words in a bid to look cool. Because my mom is anything but cool. That utter lack of coolness also totally prevents my mom from reading my blog. I [...]

From the land where metal, progressive, and punk converge (San Francisco) comes the mighty three eyed rock and roll beast (actually a four piece, so technically it's an eight eyed beast) known as Triclops! Women and children quiver in its deep, black shadow as it lumbers from town to town. Men are in awe of its power ( I have no data on their fan demographics, but I suspect their brand of rock, reminiscent of Butthole Surfers, Janes Addiction and At The Drive brings in a manly audience). With the speed and dexterity of a monster half [...]

Triclops! - March of the Half-Babies (Alternative Tentacles 2008) Triclops! - Out of Africa / Alternative Tentacles And so we move from one take on Africa to another: Triclops! is a group that has been on Audiversity's radar since the Cafeteria Brutalia EP in February of 2007 (though the San Francisco quartet had already been playing together since late '04). That EP's squalling punk was another variant on the bloodlines of Drive Like Jehu: It changed time signatures faster than a Tissot on speed; it barked [...]
Yes, it's not technically Friday, but give us a break...we've been busy prepping the "big surprise." Once again, this is your chance to take control of the site. photo by Stephen Berkman The new releases on Largehearted Boy's list this week seem to hearken back to days of yore, whether they be from veteran bands who are laying down vinyl for the first time in years (16 for B-52's), reissuing remastered albums (5 of them by Jesus & Mary Chain), or repackaging older material (a collector's edition from The Lemonheads, a full-length including songs released last year by De Novo Dahl, the "greatest hits" of Morrissey, and a live recording of songs by Under Byen). Heck, even newer artists are [...]

Three eyes are better than two. D'you miss Alice Donut, prime-era Butthole Surfers (before they turned into a bunch off dicks), and Tripping Daisy? If so Triclops! should be right up your fucking alley. You know how rarely I just post publicist-sent MP3s (ESPECIALLY when they are sonically sucky 128 kbps version), so this must either be really fucking good, or it's unlocked some sentimental acid-damaged vault I forgot even lived within me. Wait, aren't those two basically the same thing? Check [...]
San Francisco acid punk band Triclops! [MP3] Triclops - Mi Plisboy I've actually been finding some tremendous bands on MySpace lately. Yesterday, I stumbled upon the manic explosive sound that is Triclops! Triclops! practice the art of brutal but cleansing noise, acid punk, psychadelic rock, and hardcore. They are definitely up there with contemporaries 400 Blows and [...]

So after attending the Eagle Rock Music Festival (which we'll post about tomorrow), we went downtown, but not for Detour. Detour was kid's stuff compared to the lineup at Dave's warehouse on 6th St. 400 Blows, Triclops!, and Qui were brilliant. The crowd was beautiful. And the drunk girl with the Garciaparra jersey climbing the halfpipe was awesome. The legendary David Yow joined Qui for a few
