Yes, it's that time of year again, the time when we shower you with bounteous goodness from the vaults of Toad, in the form of our annual label sampler. It is free to download from Bandcamp , with the slight proviso that you sign up to our mailing list, from which you can unsubscribe instantly at any time you choose, if I happen to bore you to tears with my constant entreaties to buy our records. Which I won't, of course, our newsletters are fucking awesome. On this edition of the sampler we are taking the opportunity [...]

Welcome to 2013, Toadcast listeners. As is tradition around these parts, we start the year with a podcast of songs we will be releasing this year on Song, by Toad Records, combined with a few we have released quite recently. There are a few things I didn't put on here, because it seemed a shame to spill the beans too early - we have a new Rob St. John single coming soon, as well as a new album by The Leg and that collaborative album between Jill from Sparrow and the Workshop, Neil and Pete from Meursault, Rory [...]
PINS - LUVU4LYF from PINS on Vimeo . Bloody hell this Friday Fives is going to be late. I've not been skiving though, I promise. I've been to the gym (for my back, not for my abs). I've tried to persuade the bank that I am indeed myself and can they please turn my fucking card back on, including the surreal experience of going into a branch and talking on a public telephone to a phone banking centre somewhere else. And then I out to the Parcel Force depot to collect what I have [...]

Song, by Toad Records hereby release into the world what we reckon is going to become an annual free sampler, mostly as a free download, but with a few CDs given to local record shops and available at gigs as well. The sampler is a combination of things we’ll be releasing this year, mixed in with a couple of things from 2011 and interspersed with a few brilliant moments from the late Kenneth Williams’ reading of the Wind in the Willows. Snippets from this reading litter my own weekly podcast, and inspired the name of the label in [...]
![[Listen/Download] Trips and Falls- I Learned Sunday Morning, On a Wednesday](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4005489_lg.jpg)
by teepoo If you took a piece of classic rock and added a ton of noise what you'd get is something like Montreal's Trips and Falls. I thought I'd introduce you to you on a Sunday with a song called I Learned Sunday Morning, On a Wednesday to confuse the heck out of you. This comes from their album released last December called People Have Been Told . Trips and Falls- I Learned Sunday Morning, On A Wednesday [...]

"People Have To Be Told" es el segundo álbum de la banda de Montreal Trips and Fall, un disco publicado el pasado mes de septiembre por el sello discográfico Song, by Toad Records . El disco está compuesto por un total de diez canciones de marcado carácter melódico, suaves melodías y deliciosas armonías vocales chico-chica, todo ello aderezado con una música que a ratos suena un tanto experimental, confiriéndole una identidad propia alejada de los sonidos más convencionales. MySpace Facebook [...]
How's everybody doing? Let's get right to the first October installment of Weekly Roundup !

Trips and Falls are a Montreal trio who just released a new record - People Have to be Told off Song, By Toad Records . One of the tracks off this album is called This Is All Going To End Badly and admittedly, I was drawn to this track based on the title. Why am I attracted to song titles of inevitable doom? I don't know. Anyways, what I discovered after a few listens is that it's is an entirely enjoyable, subdued, somber folk track that features a dynamic male/female harmony. Check it [...]

So, the new Trips and Falls album comes out tomorrow. Or possibly today, depending on when you're reading this. And it will be in lovely hand-printed Arigato packs, as you can see at the bottom of the page, with design by Chris from Brothers Grimm. We've already had really nice support from the likes of Lauren Laverne, Gideon Coe, The Skinny and The List and, of course, because we're so awfully fucking nice we are giving away a little bit more free stuff as an added inducement for you to buy the album (which you can do [...]

das dritte album der band wurde in nur zwei tagen aufgenommen, der qualität wird das nicht geschadet haben, da bin ich sicher, "let the poison out" erscheint auf hardly art am 24. oktober: the beets - doing as i do spannender name, spannender typ, ist in seattle ein kleines indiesternchen und bringt mit "drawn onward" sein neues album "with stripped down banjo songs, reinterpretations of appalachian folk tales, snaps, foot stomps, drum machine barber shop numbers, and even a hazed out shoegaze song in the form of [...]

The second album by Trips and Falls has already been described by The Skinny thus : "superb debut He Was Such a Quiet Boy was woefully underappreciated, and People Have to Be Told manages to better it". Personally, due to the internal machinations of the record industry *cough cough*, I have been sitting on this album for over a year now, and I would agree with The Skinny; it's fucking brilliant. It may not be quite as strange as their debut, but there is something more grounded and complete about it if you [...]

Snooze! Yes, a genuine, proper weekend snooze was had this morning and it was fucking amaaaaazing! I haven't actually had the chance to lazily sleep in for fucking months and it was an enormous pleasure. And not even a guilty one, because I genuinely don't have to rush about being efficient today. Awesome! This week's podcast contains a fair bit of plugging, I have to confess. Not all for myself though. I plug the Kurt Vile tour, Jonnie Common's Deskjob as well as his new album, the new Oates Field album and the new album by [...]

When I first heard Montreal's Trips & Falls , I was excited enough to ramble on about quirkiness, textures and potential. Basically, I liked what I heard but thought they could use some space to grow without forced pressures or expectations and tried to gussy it up with some overused descriptors. People Have to Be Told is the band's follow up and even after the most casual listen, you'll be tempted to talk about growth and the benefit of experience. Talk about the consistency the band seem to have found, [...]

Trips And Falls - People Have To Be Told By Steve McGillivray A record coming out on Song, by Toad Records is something that gets me a little bit excited these days, thanks to the consistently high quality of the label's output. It's with something akin to "Christmas 1978 and hoping that the big box contains the X-Wing Fighter" excitement that I open the envelope containing the label's latest promo. This time round it's Canadian band Trips and Falls , with their album People Have To Be Told. [...]
People Have To Be Told is the forthcoming second album from Montreal's Trips and Falls. The guitar rock outfit releases the record on November 1st. I've got the first single for you to hear. Have a listen to "This Is All Going To End Badly": This is All Going to End Badly by trips and falls

Photography by Me ... Well my friends, the time has come. The break the rules and have some fun. It's been a nutty 4+ someodd years over here at tsururadio, we've gone through a lot of changes, did everything from mixtapes to vinyl rips, contests to out and out giveaways, we always tried to have fun and keep ourselves in check that we are just music bloggerin', like 4 kabillion other kids out there on the wide world interconnected super highway of love canals. But as [...]

The internet works in unusual ways. I know Jon Rooney because he sent through his music (the excellent Virgin of the Birds ) for review on Song, by Toad, then he happened to be in Edinburgh for New Year's Eve a couple of years back and ended up playing a house gig at our place, and then sent us an email nudging us towards some of the best places in Austin when we were out for SXSW last month. He also introduced me to Levi who writes Ball of Wax , and also curates the [...]
