Dock Ellis threw a No-No on LSD on June 12th, 1970. I stumbled across this exceptional viral artifact tonight. Artist James Blagden and No Mas created some magic here, using an original audio commentary from Mr. Ellis that aired on NPR in 2008. Nevermind steroids, we need to here more stories like Dock's. This man had true soul. Godspeed. < No Mas You Tube Tagged: 1970 , Dock Ellis , James Blagden , June 12th [...]
1994 was a messed up year. I heard this tune early this morning in the Gym today on the Muzak system. Go figure. It sounds better 16 years later. It brought back 57th and Broadway around 3pm. Converse one stars, Pavement all stars, and modern rock was now pop. It was the beginning of the end. This gal is a lifer. Tagged: Courtney Love , Hole , Video , Violet

HappyParts just purchased a double disc set of the top 10 hits. Elvis sounds amazing in the pick-up. I highly suggest you get to your local music shop and get your Elvis fix on. This tune was recorded on 1/23/69 and went #1 on 9/13/69. God bless The King. Elvis Presley - Suspicious Minds Tagged: 1969 , Elvis Presley , From Elvis in Memphis , Mp3 , Suspicious Minds
Toronto-based performing songwriter Matthew Barber returns with his fourth studio album True Believer February 23 (digitally in the U.S. for now), the follow up to his Juno-nominated '08 album Ghost Notes . Produced by Howie Beck, the new project continues Barber's fine mix of Americana, folk and roots rock leanings along with the sensitive balladry that's have been prominently featured on various Canadian TV dramas. "On this record, Howie and I aimed to get the songs across in a clear and direct way by letting the lyrics, melodies and rhythm do the work and only [...]
Blame it on Lsq. Elvis is a bit hopped up on gear in this video, but the tune just sends me. I think it was his last true number one. I'll need to check that later. Don't get caught in a trap. Tagged: Elvis , Las Vegas , Suspicious Minds , Video

Twist of Cain - 1988's Low end, strip rock action groove still rings true. Glenn Danzig served up a subterranean power quartet on his eponymous debut, featuring John Christ (Samhain), Eerie Von (Rosemary's Babies) and Chuck Biscuits ( Black Flag). Come alive yea. You're No Good - Pro-Tools fueled studio closures are killing off the session stars. I need to go find the original tune, performed by Betty Everett and produced by Leiber & Stoller. It just goes to show: if tune is great, stick with it. Andrew Gold instinctively got that, and helped Linda Ronstadt arrange and deliver her signature performance. Timeless.
